Q: can the wax jar be heated in the microwave?

no but it doesn't matter all you have to do put the wax the double boiler melted down pour into an old clean coffee mug. Then what you do is you heat the mixture up in the microwave for a minute and a half. So good deal works well and I'm getting some more!

It's a soft wax so you have to use strips.

I put the entire jar in the microwave and it is still reusable. I use the cloth strips.
