No it will not damage the wall. It is actually mounted on the back of your head board and the wall portion is padded.

Q: would these work for a rounded post?

I don’t think it would have enough surface to stick to with a rounded post. I’d suggest a flat spot of the headboard or post to stick it to

Q: on the adjustable I have 4 inches between headboard and wall....will the adjustable fit this size?

I think that would max it out but it should cover that span.
