Mold Armor Do It Yourself Mold Test Kit
This experience directly addresses a concern I saw in another review, where someone doubted the effectiveness of the test, claiming mold grows everywhere and the test wouldn't work. My results demonstrate that the kits are accurate: one test showed mold, and the other didn't. This proves (to me) that the kit works well to detect mold when it's present and shows negative results when there is no mold.As someone with mold toxicity, it's crucial for me to understand the mold situation in my home, especially since I'm also having trouble with doctors. The test kit provides valuable evidence regarding the type of mold present and confirms the issue. I will definitely purchase these kits again if I need to test other parts of my home or any new areas. Highly recommended!

Accuracy is impossible to know
Only one kit is in a pack and the directions clearly state that to understand whether or not you have higher than normal levels of mold you need to get an indoor and outdoor reading. In fact, when you dig into mold remediation companies and mold in general you'll find that you need to basically test every area of your home at least twice and compare it to one or more outdoor samples to get a read on whether there's excess mold in your home and if it's different than what's outside. Even then, you don't know if the mold you found is benign or harmful unless you pay for a $40 test. That's fine, if you suspect an issue it's fair to have it sent to a lab for testing. The problem is that most people don't know that every home has mold in it. Some of that mold can even be the harmful kind. The trick to it all is that even with harmful mold it really won't affect you unless it is growing out of control at levels above what are considered safe, even for the harmful variety. So as a test this works fine. I found mold growing in my daughters room and it was concerning. I removed the mold with a bleach solution and then ran this test a few days later to see whether or not there was the same kind of mold and an abundance of it. I left the Petri dish out for 3 hours instead of the recommended 1 hour and after 48 hours there were 2 of the tiniest mold spots growing in it. After 96 hours there were 3 of them, I could tell they were the same type I had cleaned off the wall and none were more than the size of a quarter. This tells me that there isn't a substantial mold issue in the room and that I need to continue to monitor the area where I first found it. Again, we're back to not knowing what the baseline for the home is because you have to buy multiple kits and test outdoors to get that baseline. So I base this off of the results of others in similar rooms that I've found online. There is a 99% chance you will find mold with this test. That isn't necessarily bad. All homes have mold. You need to have a way of knowing whether there is some area that is consistently allowing mold growth, if the levels of mold growth are too high to be safe, and if the type of mold is dangerous to breathe (not all are). So be careful reading these results. The presence of mold doesn't mean you have an infestation and need remediation. All homes have mold. Best thing I could say is pay the $40 fee to get it tested to see if it's dangerous mold and even then you'll need to know whether it's consistently getting in your house and if the level of mold in the air is at a point where it's harmful to health which just can't be done without an expert coming out to test. This product is really best to give one piece of mind after they've cleaned some mold. For me it let me know that yeah, there's still mold in the air but it isn't growing on the wall where I found it anymore and after taking a sample 3 times longer than the directions asked for I still only got minor growth after waiting 4 entire days.

good MOLD detection product
worked via sample added to the dish or as Open Air collection. LAB fee is expensive and slow to provide result.

Lost test, lies, and lost money
I knew going in that I'd need to send the kit away for testing. I was fine with this. But after not hearing back for almost a month, I got in touch with WM Barr (the company that handles the tests) and they told me that they never received the test. After some back and forth with them, I tried getting a refund, which they refused, and so because I paid through Paypal, I went to them to get my money back using WM Barr's own emails as evidence for the refund.Once Paypal got involved, WM Barr changed their tune saying the test was tested and that I must have put my email address in wrong to have not received the test results. This is bogus because I have confirmation emails for payments and submissions. This was, unfortunately, not enough proof for Paypal to refund me the $40 for the testing, and even though I had proof of purchase, proof of the serial number for the test, and proof that I paid, WM Barr wouldn't provide me with the test results because they "couldn't verify" that I was the person who submitted the test. Nevermind the fact that _all of this was being done over the email address they had sent their confirmations to_.Avoid this test and find one from a more reputable company (and Paypal can rot on this, too).

If in a hurry for a report, look elsewhere.
I purchased two mold kits for different rooms in my basement. The kits come with a petri dish with cover, solution, swab, and a envelope to return the dish. Pretty simple, pore the solution in the dish, place it where you want to test, leave it for 48 hours. In my case, one test took more that 48 hours to show spore growth in one room. The other room had no spore growth after a week. I went to the Mold Armor web site payed the $40.00 for testing for the one dish that had growth, put the cover on the dish (used masking tape to keep the lid on) and put it in the pre-addressed envelope and mailed it. After six weeks with no report, I requested my testing money back and behold a day or two later, a email shows up with a report identifying two types of fungi and an explanation of each. As far as the accuracy, who knows. The report states receiving the sample approx. four weeks after I mailed it.

Seems to work.
It seems to work well. Tried it in middle of living area and in bedroom. No mold detected. So to experiment, even after the time was up, I contaminated it with just touching the surface without washing hands and all kinds of stuff grew in a couple days, so I think it would have shown if there was any mold in the air.
