Why did you pick this product vs others?:Ok, this is a solid year plus review because I take my containers seriously and try to take care of them. Last name brand I had for way too long and it wasn’t sealing properly…I decided to make switch for the following reasons:I liked the time reported to keep hoy or cold…I live in Arizona and yes, sometimes heat gets nasty (good testing ground).It had stainless steal interior that was smooth & less likely to hold on to coffee oils.Yes, the opening has awkward (actually unique) appearance and feel to it. Yes I drink coffee while in the car but I immediately dismissed feelings when first drinking from my mug. It only took one trip to son’s house to realize the structure of the opening enabled me to see around the mug and see clearly what was in front of me…did this evaluation while at stoplights. Have not had any trouble drinking coffee!Putting lid on the mug is sometimes “difficult” only in respect to taking an extra moment to make sure it’s level when I start out. Yep, I’ve had leaks when I was in a hurry or not paying attention when putting lid on but in a year I can honestly say 5 or less times. My coffee sometimes get left in the car because I take kids to school and oh, I’ve got coffee left 10 hours later when I get home… drinkable and no bitterness and I’ve had more than one overnight “oh dear I didn’t wash it out when I got home”…cool but didn’t taste bad. Now for report on cold liquids! I can honestly say that I’ve had ice remaining after 24 hours. I can also say that I’ve left the mug in the car while having fun with grandchildren for ours and car has been sitting in 110-120 degree F temperatures in Phoenix Valley. And I’ve come out to the car and not only was there plenty of ice left, the ice was still there when getting home at lease 6-8 hours after filling it. The mug cleans up easily and I’ve not had coffee oils staining the inside. I’m not compulsive cleaner but I’ve been using silicone bottle brush and sometimes just water to rinse out.Now, I’m clumsy and I cringed the first time I dropped the mug when I had my hands full…slight scratch. I have had 2 maybe 3 drops since then and have one dent at base of mug. No real in any seals I have normal wear on base from slipping it into drink holder in our cars.I have two smaller mugs that family members didn’t feel comfortable using and they are wearing beautifully. I would buy these again without reservation. I’ll likely not return to the other costly name brand. I will also not hesitate to check out other items from the Zojirushi Store!

Best travel mug I've ever owned - for both hot or cold beverages. This in the category of "almost works too well" in that I can't put coffee in when it's too hot or I'll burn my mouth six hours later if I leave it sealed that long. I put ice water in it once and forgot about it, left it in a hot car, and opened it a day later to find that there were still ice cubes banging around in there. Obviously your mileage will vary if you are opening and closing it, but if you warm it up before you put in a hot liquid, then leave it sealed, it's going to keep it HOT for a long time. And if you chill it a bit and toss in some ice cubes, same results. Even after you open it, it'll stay hot or cold for hours if you close it after you sip.I have three of these zojirushi travel mugs - the other two are straight cylinders and they are just as effective temperature-wise but they don't have the collapsible buckle/ring. That makes a huge difference - so much easier to carry or loop onto a backpack when traveling. Highly recommend this version! Incredible value (I paid around $30 for this one) for the quality. Zojirushi in general is a great value, don't sleep on this one.

Please get this to keep your coffee hot!My mom has been sending me messages of praise almost daily because finally she can sip on her coffee for hours on end.

I bought this one for my girlfriend. She would not believe me when I told her how good this thing is., She is now a believer. It stays hotter longer and colder longer than all other competitors. The top comes apart for thorough cleaning.The only two negatives are 1. Stuff stays really hot for a long time so if you put really hot coffee in the bottle it may be awhile before you can drink it. 2. It is a flip top. It is also not safe for the dishwasher.The bottle is narrow in diameter so it fits in my pants pocket, brief case or backpack so easily. I always travel with this bottle. Empty through airport security and fill it before I fly. Everyone who sees this says what a great idea.
