it appears to be well made and I have used it for a variety of situations like power outages, night fishing, etc and I'm not known for being very gentle so I'd have to say its pretty durable and gives off a good amount of light. Cheers

yes. the light works with the same Makita 18v battery the drill motors use

Q: Is this compairable to a 40watt bulb?

No, it puts out much more light. The full 360 mode fills the whole room and the half mode lights half the room. I almost never use the flashlight mode. We have had trouble with power outages, so I hang this on the wall beside the bed. Has lasted in 6 and 10 hour outages with one battery. It is nice not to have to spend the first hour of the outage looking for and replacing batteries in a bunch of flashlights and "lanterns".

Q: Where do you find the serial number on this to register it on the Makita website?

There are two sets of numbers on my flashlight in this video. They are reference numbers an authorized Makita dealer will use to identify it. My other Makita flashlight is the same, with no clear marking of a Serial number.
