Q: are these really waterproof?

No, they’re not waterproof, but they are reasonably water resistant - if you’re out in a light drizzle or light, fluffy snow, you’re golden for a full day of play. If the rain picks up, or the snow starts to clump and stick, you’ll start feeling uncomfortably damp after about 2-3 hours in areas where the pants fit tightest to your body. If you sit your butt on a soaking wet log to break and eat lunch for a bit, you’ll get up with damp underpants (but at least you’ll still be warm so you might not even notice). In short: if you own any off-brand soft shell jackets (Kirkland brand or something like it), the performance is about the same.

Q: do these make a lot of noise / swishy sound?

Yes, they’re a little swishy, but not too bad. Too loud for indoors if you work in an office, or if you need to stealthily creep up on an unsuspecting animal outdoors. Otherwise, hardly noticeable in most environments with everyday hustle and bustle noise.

Q: Is this Chinese sizing?

No these are not Chinese sizing lol - I normally wear a 6-8 and ordered a medium and they fit fine - warning that these can get 'hot' when hiking on a fairly warm day - I noticed that once I got done hiking I was sweating - these are real warm when moving.

Q: I am a size 14. Do i need a xl or xxl?

I'm a size 10 and ordered a large which fit well. At size 14, go with an XL without any under layering
