Functional as great as the original.
An up to date version of a great classic. Just as durable as the original. Great quality, easy to fill and use. A piece of history.

A neat piece of history that works well
The first time I used the lighter I managed to pop open the flint compartment and eject the flint to points unknown. A little bending with some needle nose pliers made the friction fit much more secure. It's been very reliable since, nearly always lighting on the first strike. It has good wind resistance, but not quite as good as a Zippo, although it seems better sealed and should retain fuel longer. Time will tell. The adjustable wind screen does change the flame's intensity but doesn't change its height by much.My only complaint is that the thin stainless steel heats up really fast. It's designed to light cigarettes which only require a few seconds. Leaving it lit makes the top of the lighter too hot to touch, although you can stop that by pulling out the lit fuel cylinder to use like a candle, which is a very useful feature if you're out of the wind.

Great design! Great quality!
I love vintage lighters, and this excellent replica of the classic Austrian lighter from the 1930s is both reliable and cool. Highly recommended!

Great design and compact.
I do not use this for smoking. I like collecting these different style lighters and I really like the way this product is produced. Adjustable flame. Removable flame if you need that. Easy to fill. Nice vintage feel. Easy to install flint etc.

New favorite
My new favorite lighter, zippos are great and have many styles, love collecting them. But everyday use, Imco is the best.

Pleasing device; works well, has fuel evaporation issues.
It is difficult to tell whether there is one factory in China making all of these, or several making these designs, based on an old Austrian design. Some of these have "COME OF VIENNA AUSTRIA" stamped on the bottom, which tells you what you need to know. The side says "DESIGN IN AUSTRIA SINCE 1918"Still, even in this modern form, it is a pleasing little device with an adjustable though somewhat fragile windscreen (if you knock this off, just bend it back to the proper shape and it'll be fine.). The lighter opens a bit like a stapler, with a spring on a track pushing the flint upward. It's very easy to change the flint and there's room in here to store an extra one.I used Ronsonol initially, and Zippo lighter fluid works well also, as do third party flints (I use Ferrofire.)Like Zippos, the flaw in this design is evaporation. The windscreen slides up to provide some closure, but not enough; this will evaporate dry and need a refill in about two weeks. The push-button action is nice though; much nicer than rollers like on Bics. One of the more interesting features of the lighter is the wick stays lit, and the cylindrical part detaches, becoming a sort of candle, which makes lighting in tight spaces (say, under a stack of wood) quite a bit easier than with a lighter designed such that you have to keep holding a button down to keep the flame lit.The cylinder is filled with cotton, and is very easy to fill. You'll want the kind of fluid which isn't under pressure, but in non-pressurized liquid form that you can pour or squeeze in drop-by-drop.Overall, the quality is good but the metal, in general, is light. Should be durable enough for a pocket but wouldn't survive a torture test; this isn't a survival lighter.I have no original Austrian-made IMCO to compare it to, but it is very easy to carry on account of its weight. It's a pleasant device and worth the money, provided you don't mind the evaporation. Many lighters of this era have this flaw so it's not unique to this one, and it's a design issue rather than a quality control issue.

Cool design, poor tolerances
I returned it after taking a look inside- The design is timeless, but the lighters are typically put together crooked. When you open the back, the "Wings" on either side of the clip you pull out to put in a flint aren't bent in correctly and make the clip loose. The candle containing your wick and cotton should "Snap" into place and feel secure until you pull it out, but the metal isn't stamped right and the candle can just fall out if you bump it. I think you could find one that was made right if you kept exchanging them; The metal is good and the parts would be ok if they were assembled right, but it isn't worth my time. These also are dropshipped and cost twice as much here as they would off Ali-Ex.

As nice as my Austrian made Imco
Hard to tell between the china imco and the austria made imco. The Original sticks to a magnet and can rust, the china Imco is stainless steel. Both very nice lighters!!! Read this is not a copy but the manufacturer bought the rights to make these. Austria Imco closed the doors in 2012? ish
