Product Description Two of the most powerful Dragon Ball Z releases remastered and restored on one action-packed DVD! The History of Trunks Goku is dead, victim of a deadly virus. Last of the Z Warriors to pass, the Super Saiyan's death has left the Earth far more vulnerable than ever before. With no one left to protect the planet, Androids 17 and 18 arrive to terrorize the great cities, plunging all into darkness where the inhabitants cower in fear. Is there no hope left in this apocalyptic horror? is this the end? Goku's son, Gohan, is now a man, and with an extraordinary young teenager named Trunks by his side, the two determine to face off against the threat. but as tragedy follows upon tragedy, the world around Trunks is fast collapsing and there seems no check to the evil of the Androids. This is the story of the future that never was. Bardock: Father of Goku Before there was Golu, tehre lived his father Bardock. A low-class Saiyan soldier under the comand of Frieza, Bardock is attacked by the last of an alien race they are employed in destroying. Healing on his home planet of Vegeta, Bardock discovers he has been blessed with the ability to see into the future. But the blessing soon becomes a curse, as the Saiyan finds himself haunted by visions: The tragic extermination of his own race and the destruction of their beloved planet, all the hands of Frieza. Bardock sets off on a nightmarish race with fate to avert the impending disaster. But as his strength fails and despair sets in, hope will be found in one last vision. This is the story of Bardock, the father of Goku. Bardock the Father of Goku (Tatta Hitori no Saishuu Kessen: "Lonely Final Battle," 1990) and The History of Trunks (Zebbo he no Hankou!! Nokosareta Chou-Senshi Gohan to Torunkusu: "Resist Despair!! The Ultimate Surviving Fighters: Gohan and Trunks," 1993) were the first and second Dragon Ball Z TV specials. The programs present the back stories of later adventures. Bardock was one of the Saiyans Frieza used as mercenaries to conquer other worlds. But Frieza and his lieutenant Doodoria feared the Saiyans might eventually become strong enough to threaten them. Doodoria murdered Bardock’s squadron; Frieza destroyed the Saiyan planet. Vegeta, Nappa and Goku (né Kakarot) were the only survivors. Before he was killed, Bardock was cursed with the ability to see the future, including his own brutal death. But that psychic power also enabled Bardock to see that his infant son would grow up to destroy the monstrous Frieza. The History of Trunks is set further in the future: the androids 17 and 18 that Dr. Gero created are ravaging the Earth. As Goku died of a heart ailment several years earlier, no one can defeat them, not even Gohan. Trunks, the son of Vegeta and Bulma, fights 17 and 18, but loses ignominiously. Only one hero can save the world: Trunks launches the time machine Bulma invented to take medicine back to Goku that will save his life and alter the course of history. Bardock the Father of Goku and The History of Trunks will appeal most strongly to viewers already familiar with the Dragon Ball saga. Excellent quality
Any of the dragonball z movies in Blu-ray are a must buy and highly recommended. You have the option of switching from Japanese to English soundtracks in your settings menu. Japanese being the original and English being hard rock. Excellent quality that is crystal clear. Would highly recommend if you want to know how goku came to be or if you want to know why future trunks traveled back to the past. Pricing is great.

Almost Perfect
Arrived in good condition. Sets have a great picture, relatively unaltered considering what FUNIMATION typically does to DBZ home media releases. Biggest downside is the 16:9 aspect ratio. These specials originally aired on TV in 4:3 so you’re missing part of the picture.I wish the set included a slipcover, but I knew it didn’t on purchase so I’m not gonna take off stars for that. MOST original American music is in tact, including the licensed songs and one-off openings. The only thing missing was the credits song for the Trunks Special, and it instead plays the normal Japanese credits music. All in all it’s a decent release, especially by normal standards with this series.
