This boning is flat and can be bent in a curve like a circle or semi circle as in a hoop skirt, etc. as such it can have gathers on it no problem. It is pretty stiff stuff. Hope this helps.

Q: How does this hold up in a nursing cover? Is it strong enough?

Yes it works well in the nursing covers..although I do recommend putting in the dryer on low heat after laundering
