Super treat to reward and reinforce behaviors
Breeder and vet-approved for rewarding behaviors. Do not overfeed! My cats run crazy for these. Store inside another plastic bag to keep fresher and so cats donāt go hunting for the bag since the smell is potent!

Great as a treat or a meal topper
I will often use this product as a topper for my six cats' evening meals. It helps my two picky ones to actually eat. They all love it and would probably make a meal of it if I let them. One cat in particular will raid the desk where we store the cat food and will usually hop back down to the floor with a bag of these treat in his mouth. We've caught him many times. I think he would eat the bag and the treats, too, if we let him. LOL

Iāve never seen my cat get this excited about treats before.
My cat is not food motivated, like a lot of other cats out there, but she goes bananas for these. Itās been hard finding ones she likes and I guess she just happens to be a connoisseur. These are great, thereās nothing else in them besides the protein, and my cat loves them. The only downside is I have to break them down cos sheās a princess and have to wash my hands afterwards cos they stink. But itās fish, so it is what it is. No complaints and a happy kitty!!

DANGER! CHOKING HAZARD FOR YOUR CAT!
The title is all you really need to know. I bought this "treat" along with treats from three other companies, all in the same order. I did not review those other treats (our cats love them BTW) but as a public service I am reviewing the PureBites Freeze Dried Salmon Treats. I have bought freeze dried minnows from this company that our cats wouldn't touch, and even the feral cat we feed wouldn't eat either. The company made me jump through hoops to finally get a refund, despite their "100% Satisfaction" guarantee. So much for Canadian friendliness. I have bought a few other varieties of treats for our cats from this company, with mixed satisfaction, at least judging from our cats' acceptance ( and they are NOT picky eaters!).Sorry for the off topic, so here's the skinny. I figured these salmon treats were probably scraps from the fish processor, and I still feel that way. OK, so who cares, right? But what I didn't figure is that the "freeze drying" would result in salmon skin on the treats that is literally AS TOUGH AS SHOE LEATHER! I discovered this by giving my 18 lb. mostly Maine Coon with canines like a saber tooth tiger one of the salmon treats it's a good thing I was watching to see if he liked it because no sooner had he picked it up with his teeth and tried to chew it then he began to choke on the treat. And I do mean choke! I had to grab him, force his mouth open, and pull the the chunk out while he gagged. Some treat, huh? When I inspected the treat is when I realized that the skin on it was LEATHER TOUGH. I couldn't tear it with my bare hands. Good thing our older, much smaller cat didn't try to eat one of these things. I was tempted to throw the whole bag out, but decided to try something. I soaked the whole bag of treats in water, which softened the meat and allowed me to tear off the dangerous skin (which only got more flexible, but no less impossible to tear). Then I let the skinned meat to dry, put the dried meat (only) in the Oster blender, and ground the stuff up into meal. I mixed this salmon meal in with their dry food, so it wasn't a complete waste of money. But don't go the route I had to go. Protect your furry friend(s), save your money, and buy your cat treats from some other company. Personally, I don't think this product should even be allowed to be sold on Amazon, unless the company skins the salmon before drying, and makes returns or refunds less like the Spanish Inquisition.

A lot of tough fin and skin pieces mixed in
My cat loves the taste of these - of course, as the only ingredient is salmon. However, there are a ton of tough fin and skin pieces that just arenāt really edible even with their tough teeth. My cat will chew and chew and it will not break down which makes me worried about her choking on it. I have gotten in the habit of sorting out the skin and hard pieces which isnāt really convenient. There are also a lot of small, powder pieces from the fish being broken down and freeze dried which arenāt great for standalone treats but more for a food topper. I am conflicted because the taste and ingredients are great, but the appearance and pieces arenāt.
