Absolutely the perfect cup of coffee
I teach English to immigrants on zoom. One particular fellow from Colombia brings me Juan Valdez coffee every time he visits Miami where I live. I am now addicted to Colombian coffee and have a big fat cup of it every morning. Juan Valdez is the only Colombian coffee I drink.

Not My Cup...Or Is It *Note
It's not vacuum packed or nitrogen filled but it has vent on it (near bag top) like it use to be (One reviewer said package feels like a brick); Maybe that's what gives the taste I was searching for. An old variety of Eight O'clock Coffee use to have the brick feeling package and it smelled in the bag and tasted the way roasting coffee smells. They discontinued it and the regular Eight O'clock is good enough, but that is getting hard to find; All other coffees to me have an acrid smell right in the bag, just like this one, so you know the taste in the cup will be going nowhere. I use to smell the coffee roasting at a plant on my way to work in New Orleans some mornings and thought, wow, if only they could get a coffee to taste like that. I tried French Market brand Dark Roast but no good. Two stars in case it's just about my taste.Note: I tried it again this morning and noticed new taste I'm not familiar with and it is smooth, so I added a star. sorry. My reviews must be too, soon. I tried a brick pack bag of another brand from the store but that's no guarantee of good taste if it didn't start with good coffee.

Surprisingly sweet, full of flavor, well balanced acidity
Juan Valdez is easily one of the best brands out of Colombia. They run a chain of shops scattered around Colombia and in recent years have expanded to the USA. I’m lucky to have one less than 2 miles from my home. Of all of their wonderful coffees, this Colina is my favorite. It tastes to me like there is already sugar in it but alas there isn’t. If you are looking to cut back on sugar or artificial sweeteners, I recommend trying some sips of the Colina with no sweetener and you might find it doesn’t even need any, unless you are someone who likes a long pour of sugar into your cup. I typically only buy whole bean. The whole beans of this coffee will surprise you at how small they are, almost pea size. Whoa, the flavor out of those little beans though, amazing. Sweet, medium roast flavor with smooth acidity. I overlooked that this purchase was for ground Colina coffee and it cannot be returned sadly. If you want whole bean like me, it is available on Amazon. I will buy whole bean after I run hot water through all 3 of these ground coffee bags. I received my shipment November 2023 and all 3 bags are dated January 2025 so at least I got recently ground product. No question this is my favorite coffee. Don’t expect it to taste like something you’ve had before because it probably isn’t like another coffee you have had. Colina is unique and outstanding. One thing I can say about Juan Valdez brand of coffee is that they offer something palatable for every taste preference. Read the descriptions of each roast and regional variety and if it sounds remotely like something you tend to gravitate toward, you are highly likely to enjoy it.

Simply the best
Honestly the best coffee I have ever tasted. You would think the beans grinded fresh would taste better than the grounded packages, but they both taste amazing and the same.
