Q: I need to remove rain water from my water meter container (50cm undergound) to read my meter - the water will be travelling upwards. Will this work?

I used 1 of these units to remove the water from a toilet in order to remove lime scale from the bowl after being left outside and then refitted and it work perfectly well over the height between it and a sink (about the same height as the enquirer)

Hello Spike, it would probably do the job , but thinners might destroy the plastic after awhile.

I used it to syphon petrol from my car to a can (for use in my lawnmower). Initially it worked well, but later not so well, but this may be because I could not be sure the tube was below the petrol level in the car. If you can see and manage the levels, it should be OK. Once you establish the syphon by pumping, the flow should continue.
