It works!
I have genetic alopecia, and I've been using Rogain for 2 years. It's really good, and it really works! My head is so much fuller of hair, and my confidence has skyrocketed because of this.I stopped using it for a couple of months, and my head was full of bald spots. The results are really fast, but you'll notice more hair falling down at the beginning of the process. It's normal, don't worry. As soon as your body gets used to it, the growth is back.I have to quit regularly, and I can't stop, but this is because my alopecia is genetic. If you use it with other treatments, it's really effective.

BUYER BEWARE
I wish I had known that this would initially make your hair thinner before it starts regrowing hair! I still have a full head of hair, but have recently noticed some thinning so I was trying to be proactive. After using this product for a month my hair looks much thinner, and apparently that’s just how it’s supposed to work. I will not be continuing to use rogaine at this point in my life, I would recommend a natural DHT blocker and Biotin shampoo if you are happy with your hair and aren’t ready to spend six months looking like your father. Three stars, might work for some, but not if you aren’t ready for it to get worse before it gets better.

WARNING!!!!
I bought Rogaine Foam.First I bought the 1 spray package, just to try, and then I bought the three sprays package.I don't know if the manufacturer warns anybody, but I will.I never saw any instructions advising only to use Rogaine for baldness problems in the top back part of the skull before I purchased it, if I missed such advises it was my fault, but I read thoroughly any web pages with information about this product*, as well as the instructions within the one spray package (but it had been late anyway, I had bought it already). So, I used my first spray and then I bought the three sprays packages and there I found it, I should have been warned on any web page I checked (including manufacturer's): Rogaine is not, after the manufacturer's instructions, recommended for my problem: baldness in the top of my forehead area. But is not only the lack of information about this issue: In the TV commercial they show a young man, one so young I doubt has any problems of loosing hair, pulling his hairs on the the top front of his skull, precisely the area they say the product won't work. This is fake publicity. Or not?*: In my research about this product I found warnings that everybody should know before purchasing Rogaine. In the well reputed web site Wikipedia I found warnings about the possible side effects of this product. The active component of Rogaine is Minoxidil, which formerly was submitted to experiments as a medicine to reduce blood pressure, but during the experiments it showed to make hair grow in several areas of the body, not only in the skull. The thing is, Minoxidil, and therefore Rogaine, may cause cardiac problems.I think after politics of Amazon I can't publish here the exact url of the article where I found this information, but just google Rogaine and check independent web sites, where you will find not only that in some cases Rogaine won't work, but how are you jeopardizinbg your health using this product.

Seems to be working
I noticed this summer my hair was thinning around the front-center part of my head and was apparently going to leave me with a much higher hairline (the hair on the vertex of my head seemed to be intact). Since I already have a high forehead to begin with, I wanted to try to at least preserve the hair I had left. I spoke to a dermatologist first who did some bloodwork to make sure the hair loss wasn't due to a nutritional deficiency or some other problem. After she was satisfied it wasn't either of those things, we talked about Rogaine & Propecia. I decided to try Rogaine given some of the latest reported permanent side-effects of Propecia that I'd read about. So far, I'm pleased to say my hair seems to have stopped thinning. It actually looks like it's thickened a little, but you can still see where it's thinner than the rest of the hair on my head. But, this is really all I wanted - just keep what I have and live with it being a little thinner. Better than losing it altogether if you ask me! I saw results in a few weeks, but I think this is because I started using it early in the hair loss process - something which I think will help.I did not experience any initial hair loss after starting the treatment like the manufacturer mentioned (in fact, they say this a good sign), but it seems to have worked anyway. As others have said, it does leave a residue in your hair, but it's not really that noticeable once you comb it back into place after massaging the stuff into your scalp. Then again, I have brown hair so it may be different if you have lighter hair.I would say if your hair is thinning, give it a try. Odds are it'll at least let you keep what you have left. Don't wait until you've lost most of the hair - I think it's better to start when you still have some healthy hair follicles in place for the Rogaine to help. I also suggest talking to a doctor, too, just to make sure it's not something else causing the hair loss. I know no medication is 100% effective, but I can't help but wonder if some of those who say it isn't working for them might have something else going on in their systems causing the hair loss.I'm a 40-year old man with male pattern baldness running mostly in my mother's side of my family, though my father and paternal grandfather both had receding hairlines, too.
