I have off and on eyeballed this product and several others like it for years now. A friend of mine told me he had one and was pretty sold on it, so I thought why not for 30 some dollars it’s worth trying. I have always just hand sharpened and if the chain was too mangled I’d take it in and have it tuned up for five dollars at the shop, but this tool does just as good as the bench machine at the shop. I took the time to actually read the instructions to make sure that I had the guide set set properly which was easy to do. 10 minutes later I had a chain that was brand new quality rather than one that wasn’t worth a lick. To say the least, I was more than pleased with the results. I have always been skeptical a fancy new fangled gimmicks, but I have to say this one will spoil you in a hurry. Having to have a power source is the only downside to this tool, if it had a quality lithium battery perhaps it would be even more ideal. That being said nothing beats the reliability of a couple files when out in the back country, just had to say that all that badmouthing these fancy gimmicks wasn’t all true. With God as my witness, I have to confess that this is a handy tool and does a fine job.

Look on the internet for a video which will be better than the instructions. I am using a UPS battery for the 12v source and it works great.

I had no problem understanding how to use this tool. I have some small 12V batteries and they worked out ok. I sharpened six chains with one stone and can probably do three or four more; have to see. Traditionally I am a file user and files require more muscle.

No much to say. I've been using it for few months, and it works as expected. My old chains cut like new ones. I've not even buy new chains for quite sometime. I have sharpened the discarded old ones, and they work like new. Great tool!!! I am posting this review months after buying it, to be sure if it works as expected or not. If you like, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I got this to make it easier to stay true to the angle. I will say watch the video on you tube to learn just how easy it is. It also will let you know the correct size for your chain and how to determine correct grind stone size. Only thing I found was that the wrench screw driver end is to fat for the guide screw. I took a file to it and it was perfect. I sharpened my saw blade right away. I went out and used it. It was so sharp just the weight of the chainsaw did the cutting!! Highly recommend!! Also if you purchase i would suggest grabbing some extra grind stones not that you need to but just a good idea. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!

Well built little tool. Runs smoothly. Easy process for sharpening chainsaws. Just remember to order replacement sharpening bits to replace as needed.

I've learned over the years how to sharpen a chain well with a file but I thought it couldn't hurt to try this gadget. Man I'm so glad I did. This thing sharpens my chains better and faster than I can. If you take a few minutes to read the instructions and not throw them out with the packing it will be one of those tools that lives either outside your tool box handy to get to or right at the front where you can easily reach it. The chain kept cutting great for a long time and it always cuts straight! Highly recommend for the beginner or old seasoned dog.

These work well but seems to heat up when using. Works great if you only sharpen one chain at a time but gets pretty hot when finished sharpening a second chain. It's nice to be able to use out in the field though.
