Who says that a good hatchet has to weigh allot? This one proves them wrong!
The media could not be loaded. Pro's:- Super lightweight and compact for backpacking- A variety of tools all in oneCon's:- Not for heavy use- Sheath design is different than what is pictured, and it doesn't hold the fire starter well at allNot everyone likes to carry a hatchet when they go backpacking. It is such a heavy item that most folks don't want to try to pack one around. However, this little hatchet shatters the myth that hatchets are too heavy! The hatchet and sheath (without the fire starter) only weigh 10.65 ounces. This is less than half the weight of the Fiskars X7 (22.25 oz), so this is a great weight savings. This weight savings is exactly what I was looking for in a lightweight backpacking hatchet.I also like that this hatchet is multifunctional. It has three hex wrenches, a rope cutter, paracord, and can be used as a fire starter as well. So, not only do you get a hatchet, but you also get a tool that you can use for other purposes too. When one tool can do the job of many tools, it saves you from having to carry extra tools which can make your pack even heavier. This is a great feature of this hatchet.Although this is a great little lightweight tool, I wouldn't really recommend using it to chop allot of wood at one time with. You would spend way too much energy and wear yourself out. For larger jobs, you need a bigger hatchet. However, it is understood that this is meant to be a lightweight tool for light use. I don't take off any stars on this issue, because I feel this tool is built perfectly for its intended purpose of being lightweight. My only real peeve with this hatchet is that the sheath design is a bit different than what is pictured, and it therefore won't hold on to the fire starter. The only thing holding the fire starter in is a loose strip of fabric on the back of the sheath. The fire starter will fall out of the sheath very easily (see my video). I do not recommend keeping the fire starter in the sheath unless you just want to lose your fire starter! Why would you want to do that??!!??Overall the hatchet itself is AWESOME! I do wish that the fire starter would stay put, but I can easily store that somewhere else anyway. Since the hatchet itself is so great, I don't take off any stars on this one and rate it 5 stars. If you are looking for a lightweight hatchet for backpacking, I highly recommend this little hatchet to you.** If you found my review helpful, please let Amazon know by hitting the helpful button below. Flat and just right size to fit in a pack
I play disc golf and wanted something small enough to fit in the bottom of my disc golf bag. I wanted it so I could acquire branches or roots and use them to aid in retrieving my golf discs. It is very sharp and found it is nice to have when I need it. It is flat and has a sheath and lays nicely in the bottom of my bag. Well played golf courses get stripped of every available branch and stick in the aid of retrieving discs in trees and brush and streams and ponds so having this tool gives me more options. Bought one extra for my grandson who is a scout and thought he would find a use for it when he goes camping. The flint and the paracord will be more appealing to him than to me. It works best on side blows as it is very light and very sharp.

Seems pretty good
Nice little hatchet for use while hiking. It’s small enough to fit in a backpack pocket and sharp enough for smaller branches.

Very sharp
The handle is really rough, the cord does not provide a lot of support, so it is just a bit better than holding the metal itself. Extremely sharp, be careful not to cut yourself while unpacking. Great quality on the metal.

Worth having on the trip
Great product. Lightweight and functional. There is not much weight behind it so it's not going to function like a regular hatchet but it can get some things done with some light chopping and cutting kindling and wood shavings.
