Versatile, but not very porous.
Good price. Easy to glue together to create original shapes. And also much more attractive to mount coral frags, rather than those ugly and inconvenient plugs. Not very porous material -- it's a hard, heavy solid rock.

Small stones for Frags
I ordered these to use as frag plugs. I glue the frag to the stone and put them in my Display and watch them grow out. Looks very natural in tank

Heavy and stain my skin. Not sure why
Heavy pieces. It doesn't look like it is lava rock. Not sure what it is.These rocks stained my hands, like they were painted with some kind of powder. I don't think coralline algae should stain. I don't remember such a problem when i had tank in a past. I just hope my tank will be fine.I would just go to Menards and get lava rocks big back for 8 dollars. Put them in tank and culture for couple months.

So yes you get a lot of small and smaller pieces but it’s definitely not colored like the picture. Mines all washed out I mean it will do and the price was good but I don’t think I’d purchase it again and if I do if it’s not like the picture I’ll keep sending it back till I get one that’s colored like it shows in the picture
