Jackass!, Vol. 1 (Yaoi Manga)

I read this online at least twice before buying this physical copy. I love this. It's about a boy who accidentally partially puts on his sisters pantyhose, panics, and tries to hide it. His friend spots it though and sneaks him to the nurse's office to "help" him, but reveals that pantyhose is his kink and that he's shocked that he's turned on by his friends great legs. Most of what follows after this is about going from friends to something more. I love this because all the characters are very likeable, even the side characters. I love that they struggle to understand and accept their feelings for each other. I love that even that even intimate moments that aren't super graphic somehow manage to feel incredibly erotic. This is a manga that I've read at least three times now and I'm sure I'll re-read again and again.

Jackass! is a fun ride with gorgeous art. Some suspension of disbelief is required given the inciting incident involves the protagonist somehow accidentally wearing his sisters pantyhose when they where lodge in his jeans. (Dude, I know you wear tight jeans but come on...) Anyway, once our MacGuffin gets the plot moving, our reluctant pair's debauchery can start. Although the manga still has characters using the "Only Gay For You" trope, it does still have characters who strictly identify as gay which is a nice change. Besides the main pairing, there are, at least, two side pairs. The art is pretty with minimal censoring. (Let the more reserved buyer beware, you will see everything. There are censor bars, but they don't really cover anything. If you liked Love Stage!!, I believe you'll like Jackass!

Jackass! is a great manga with an entertaining story line and memorable characters. Some moments are laugh-out-loud funny, others tenderly capture the awkwardness and uncertainty of falling in love and not being sure whether that love will be returned. I really like the theme of being willing to be who you are without changing based on other people's expectations. Honestly, I at first felt unsure about whether I would like this book since pantyhose and cross-dressing are not my usual interests. The "kink" does add a lot to the humor and acted as a catalyst to move things forward, but in the end it is the connection between the two main characters aside from the kink that carries their relationship and the story. There are also some great side characters in here: Katsumi is my personal favorite for being willing to live his life without being controlled by what other people think.Summary: Keisuke and Masayuki are high school best friends with very different personalities. Keisuke is an orphan who lives with his sister and has to work hard for everything he has, while Masayuki is an attractive, entitled rich boy who has girls falling at this feet left and right. Unbeknownst to Keisuke, Masayuki also has a fetish for legs in pantyhose. He manages to keep that a secret until one day Keisuke inadvertently slips on a pair that his sister left inside his track pants, and Masayuki is unable to deny the pull toward his best friend's beautiful legs! Masayuki convinces Keisuke to let him indulge the kink, but afterward it isn't so easy to go back to what they had before. Can their friendship survive the change?

I'm sort of new to the BL community, so I was recommended Scarlet Beriko by some friends and let me say, wow! The art is gorgeous, I love how she draws eyes (the dreamy half lidded lovers' gaze is gorgeous) and hands. The story is comedic, realistic (in the terms of friends falling for each other, not wanting to ruin their friendship), a little sad (just a little) and there are some steamy moments.... Also, the characters are relatable. I also REALLY appreciate the older sister. Normally, female characters in BL can be insufferable but I love her and Katsumi too (I wish there was more about him). I will be supporting her in the future. I heard another work of hers is to be licensed and distributed soon, not sure what it is called but I will be on the lookout.

Umm what's not to love about best friends becoming more? Um two boys who become bi-curious after a particularly embarrassing situation one of them finds himself in while the other boy shares what his greatest kink/fantasy is, that's what! This mangaka is amazing! I love her art, her amazing story telling and realistic portrayal of friendships and human desire- she's just wow! I bought this in the original Japanese and again in English when I found out it was being published state side. It's funny, realistic, super freakin hot and it had moments of pure tender hearted acceptance and love and just the littlest bit of angst, that with all of this just sucks you into this world and never wants to let go. Loved it! Worth all the monies!

The manga itself came in a plastic wrap which I prefer, I’ve had issues of books coming in torn before, but this came in perfectly clean and unmarked! If you haven’t read this BL before I definitely recommend it. The characters are authentic and the story balances a sense of comedy, dramatism and romance very well. It isn’t sexual for the sake of being alluring ether. Every one of those encounters serves a purpose for the overall story. The ending is very sweet too. 10/10 would buy again!

I read this story countless times before it was licensed and I went ahead and pre ordered as soon as I heard it was licensed. The art is gorgeous and the whole story is very erotic. There is only 1 sex scene answers the very end, everything else is just teasing and tantalizing. I honestly didn't care for the friend's side story, hence why I can't give it a 5, other than that the story is cute, somewhat "realistic" and hot af.

Oh, Scarlet Beriko, you beautiful madwoman. She's done it again lads.The art? Fluid, clean, effortlessly sexy, and impossible to take your eyes off. The story? Fun, joyful, hot, with a surprisingly serious core. Mark my words, this is some GOOD BL. Not everyone will be into the pantyhose kink within, and some will be turned off by the secondary relationship between a gay high schooler and the school nurse - I know I tend to flick through those pages to get to the main couple. Still, the banter and general vibe between the main characters really carries this story much farther than your average BL. It's just so much fun, and the focus is less on the panty hose kink than it is on the characters' reluctance and uncertainty around same sex relationships.And it's hot. It's very, very hot. If you like buildup and sexual tension, then you need this manga on your bookshelf. SuBLime have absolutely delivered in the quality of their translation and their typesetting, making this an absolute treat all around to read. Do yourself a favour and buy it, you will not regret it.

When I first saw the blurb of this manga I made the assumption that it would be a typical relatively shallow and smutty BL with a fast paced romance and be chocked full of fast paced erotic scenes to match. I was pleasantly wrong, the two main leads have a very slow paced realistic romance and good chemistry, the whole "I'm not gay but I like you" scenario is fairly well handled and the smut scenes are present but don't get in the way of the story. Despite my endearment for the main duo, I personally enjoyed the side characters much more. The subplot of the main character's openly gay friend and his school nurse boyfriend as well as the subplot of the closeted class rep who's in denial of his sexuality, I personally found more interesting than the main plot as it was refreshing to see gay characters having to deal with these realistic issues, the class rep's subplot in particular was engaging and it would be nice to see this sort of thing handled in BL manga more often. Overall I definitely recommend.

I love when the description is right on the money, totally worth a read if you're into this kind of thing [yaoi, cross-dressing] which I totally am. The book itself is quite wide, the characters were entertaining and best of all my all time favourite publisher: SuBLime!! <3

Wonderful read ;) The characters are well developed and likeable, the art is impressive for a BL manga and the ending leaves you satisfied. I definitely reccomend it.

Very good, in a sealed packet so no damage when delivered. Bought for someone else and they were very happy. Recommend.
