Is the gloss coating on both sides?

No, this is a medium weight single sided glossy paper. PPD do sell double sided glossy paper in a variety of weights. I have successfully used the 120gsm version for brochure printing and there are 180gsm and 220gsm options.

What sort of ink is needed for this?

I don’t know the ideal answer but - for me my ordinary Inkjet cartridges (Epsom) work just fine - after setting the printer to photo copy print for this paper. For ordinary family snaps , of pets etc the results are great. If you are looking for pro quality, whilst the paper may be good it may be better to upgrade the ink or printer.
