This is my second drone and I love it! I have been in market since my first drone broke, and came across this one. For this price point, this drone is very well crafted and reliable. As you can tell in my pictures, the material drone of this drone feels very smooth and lightweight which allows it to be quicker and more agile. I am in particularly amazed by the camera picture quality. The video is sharp with no lag in between frames. This drone comes with tons of useful feature such as, hover mode, one click launch, altitude hold, 3D flips and more. All this features made the flying experience more fun and smooth. The battery takes me about two hours to charge and can fly for nearly 25 minutes. I am very happy with my purchase and will recommend this drone to anyone whose interested in getting into drone.

So now I finally get it. I see drone footage where the drone is skimming over the ocean waves, and I think, "how the heck do they do that? I'm lucky if I can keep the thing confined to a football stadium sized area." GPS (and a decent drone) is the key. It just stays wherever you put it in the sky, and then you can move it around from there.With my limited experience, I can't compare the Bugs 5W to the more expensive drones, but I am extremely happy with this (first for me) GPS drone. It calibrated with no issues, and found the satellites immediately. One button take-off put it in the sky, and then I just used it as a eye in the sky to take the video I wanted. I've attached an image from one of the videos.If I had to find any fault, and it may just be caused by my ham-handed piloting, but when I am filming and I decide to change locations, it dips quite a bit and then wobbles for awhile until going steady again. But so long as the drone keeps moving, the video is quite smooth (albeit at 1080p and not 4k).After all my YouTube research, I decided this would be a great introduction to drone photography, without stepping right up to an expensive Mavic Pro or such. I think I made a smart choice.[Update] Still loving this drone. I decided I wanted a higher-end drone for a trip to Iceland, and bought a Mavic Air, so now I have a better point of comparison.The primary distinction (for my purposes) between the two is that the Mavic Air has a 3-way camera gimbal, which greatly stabilizes videos. Even in slight wind, the video from the Mavic Air is so rock steady that I often find myself thinking that the video feed has frozen. With the Bugs 5W, any movement with the drone will be reflected in the video. But so long as you fly it with little or no wind, that will not be a problem. Also, the Mavic Air can shoot in 4k, but I generally shoot in 1080p even with the Mavic.The Mavic Air also has far more sophisticated software, enabling many shooting modes and hand gestures.But for its part, the simplicity of the Bugs 5W is one of its strengths. It can be a project to get the Mavic into the air, between the updates, warnings about location, and the refusal to calibrate. With the Bugs, I spin it around a couple of times and it's ready to go. I recently wanted to send up a drone to check on some repairs that were being made to my roof. I chose the Bugs 5W over the Mavic Air just because I knew I could get it into the air so much faster.Bottom line: The Mavic Air is well worth the money if you can afford it and need some rock steady cinematic video, but at about one-fifth the cost, the Bugs 5W is a great drone with impressive capabilities.

 There are no downsides to this drone as a starter unit, except possibly battery life. You will want those extra batteries and therefore the three battery charger. Try to get the kit that comes with all this instead of just the drone itself. The software app is great, connects to a local WiFi created by the drone itself (meaning you will not have other internet connectivity while using it), and has a bunch of nifty features such as various canned maneuvers, fast and slow mode, still shots and videos. It even works with google cardboard for a mild VR experience which is quite effective. It also works with Bluetooth joysticks which is much better for control. For around $70 it is an amazing way to get started to see if you really like drones before spending more serious money. You will love looking out the camera at a high altitude. Also, for kids it is less intimidating and less dangerous. Crashing this drone many times has not damaged it at all, and it does come with a few extra propellers.

The reason I rated it only 3 stars instead of more is because of one critical problem with it which caused me to lose mine until someone called to tell me they found it (put up posters) When it's batteries get to half way (which does take a while) it triggers it to kick into return home mode and it's not cancelable at that point. I wasn't that far from home but apparently it thought immediately time to head back and got lost in someones trees apparently. Believe me it's something you potentially will lose your drone over unless you are in an open field..Other than that it flies plenty high enough but the wifi range is over rated, dropping out well before stated. This causes you to lose all video and info about your drone and it doesn't always reconnect right away when back in range. The camera does a very decent job and the drone is powerful at taking off but not as fast when just moving around. Its fairly stable, not moving more than a couple inches with no wind or slight breeze. With decent breeze to slightly windy it might drift a foot to maybe 3 while fighting winds. Not a problem when up high but when in confined spaces like in a house (not recommended anyway), the wake generated by its own props will cause it more drifting due to no GPS signal available inside. Aside from its critical flaw mentioned earlier which has happened more than once, it's not bad for the money.One more.thing. It would be nice of an actual case was available after purchase. Contixo has the same style drone available (F20 model) that does come with a nice case. Trust me you will wish you had it.
