Yeast nutrient is a blend of vitamins, minerals, inorganic nitrogen, organic nitrogen, zinc, phosphates and other trace elements that will benefit yeast growth and complete fermentation. Additional nutrients are most valuable during yeast propagation and sluggish or stuck fermentations. Supplementing with nutrients will reduce lag time, improve viability and provide consistent attenuation rates.1/2 tsp (2.2 Grams) per 5 gallons (19 liters) of wort.Usage Instructions: Dissolve yeast nutrient in warm water. Add solution to kettle 10-15 minutes prior to end of boil.

Not Exactly What I was Expecting...
So I ordered the 2 ounce version of the bottle. The package ended up arriving 3 days earlier than expected, much to my surprise, though it lead to a good deal of confusion as the product I relieved was not the exact one listed. Instead of receiving a bottle marked "LD Carlson Company" and "Contains Food Grade Urea and Diammonium Phosphate", I instead revived a resealable plastic bag marked "HomeBrewStuff" and with no mention of Food Grade Urea, only the Diammonium Phosphate. The bag is 2 ounces, just like the bottle. Now, for my uses, this shouldn't be a problem, but it was still not what I was expecting and could be an issue for buyers looking for something specific. Otherwise, I have no issues with the product. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I have yet to use it, so if it ends up affecting the taste of my brew negatively in a noticeable way, I'll add an edit to this review. That being said, I'm not too worried about it. It seems like a good product, even if it's not exactly what I ordered.

Not in a bottle
Unlike the picture on the listing, this size (2 oz.) came in a small plastic bag, not in a bottle, and I don't like (makes it harder to store and measure out). If I had known this before ordering, I could have saved the bottle from my previous one. Two stars off for inaccurate description!

Used in Root Beer. 1/8 tsp/gallon got rid of sulfer smell
I've been using distilled water to make root beer. Found that I was getting sulfur odor, because there were no trace minerals to bind sulfur. 1/8 tsp. of this yeast nutrient got rid of the sulfur smell.

Feel like a bait and switch...
I ordered a 2oz container of LD Carlson yeast nutrient and got a "No Name" sachet of yeast nutrient. I purposely wanted the bottle with the screw top. Honestly I don't have confidence in this product. Not what is shown in their listing.

Great for beer yeast starters!
I use this in conjunction with my stir plate when making a yeast starter for my beer brewing. This stuff definitely results in a more vigorous starter when I use it. I've forgotten to use it a few times and the difference is noticeable. The bottle is small and you use a really small amount for starters. If you use to much you can run into other issues.

I think it works
I began using this with some newly purchased Red Star Montrachet wine yeast. I have not tried a batch of wine with that yeast by itself to compare how long primary fermentation takes. Using it as directed with this yeast, it takes only about 1 week to finish fermenting. It doesn't affect the flavor at all.

I'm sure it works fine
haven't tested, just disappointed because i expected to receive a bottle in the mail and the nutrients arrived in a bag instead. so don't expect a bottle!

Honestly, I can't tell if it makes a difference ...
Honestly, I can't tell if it makes a difference or not. It doesn't seem to affect the flavor, so why not. It's inexpensive enough and people swear by it.

Didn't match up
Advertising whether it be through words or photos leads a customer to believe what they are buying is what they read/saw. When the product(s) don't match --- a problem occurs.

Works good but deceptive advertising
As other reviewers have been saying time and time again, the marketing of this product is in fact fake. You are not receiving what is pictured and are simply getting a flat, sealed plastic envelope with the nutrient in it. You will need to buy your own container to store it in and are not receiving the one pictured.Product works great, but I'm irked by false advertising that's been called out time and time again and still not corrected!
