FORM OVER FUNCTION - buy if on sale
These can be considered a fun addition to a DW fan who likes miscellaneous knick-knacks. However, they are very cheaply made and require mindful care when using and cleaning. The metal parts are affixed to the plastic in a flimsy manner. First, two approximately 1/2 inch plastic halves are glued around the base of each metal part (see "brass" colored section in picture.) This plastic base has about a 1/4 inch extension that is glued inch into the plastic handle. The knife - a utensil which typically should handle a decent amount of force - broke nearly the very first time I used it to slice a thin, tender pork chop.So by all means buy a set if you can find it for, say, 15 dollars or so. They are worth that much for the novelty alone. But if you plan to use then for eating, do so on soft or otherwise easily-eaten foods only.EDIT: I've come back and changed it from three start to two stars. Today the spoon broke in the exact same spot as the knife - where the metal part is inserted into the handle. It broke as I was cutting into a piece of cake. Yes, a piece of cake. This should be advertised as decoration only, and not for practical use.P.S. And if you're wondering why I was eating cake with a spoon, it's because I was also eating yogurt and didn't want to use two utensils. You ever tried eating yogurt with a fork?

Damaged packaging no disclaimer
I have sent this item back once already because the zip tie holding the spoon in place was cut and the spoon wasn't properly displayed. When I received the replacement package, the zip tie holding the spoon was once again cut. Okay fine, but my friend also ordered this. Guess what was cut, yep, the zip tie on the spoon. That's 3 separate incidents. No coincidence. The product wasn't damaged, but as this was intended to be a gift,it looks broken and cheap. I cannot gift this, and now I am the proud owner of 3 sonic screwdriver utensils that my wife will not allow in the silverware drawer.Shame on this company for disclosing that info.

as a Whovian I expected a little better quality especially for the price on a new set of these. Kind of shaky, loose handles. The metal part is well made and it does look good in the kitchen. Probably not worth the price again though.

... fan - and I'm not sure who likes them better. They wash beautifully
I bought these for my son - a 2nd generation Doctor Who fan - and I'm not sure who likes them better. They wash beautifully, but I've not had the heart to run them through the dishwasher. They're a bit of a pain to jam into the smaller size lunchbox, but there's no way he's eating lunch without them. Plus, so environmentally friendly without risking my own silverware. LOVING IT!!!

Not so great...
Item came in damaged packaging. The flatware was loose in the box (seemed as if the plastic holding the silverware in place was cut). Item looked kind of cheap.

... you aren't trying to cut a steak they are fine. Great novelty value
They are kinda flimsy as others have mentioned but as long as you aren't trying to cut a steak they are fine. Great novelty value.

The fork fell apart after a couple uses. It's not really in the plastic, but attached to it. Cute, but not really usable.

Saweeet!
They look awesome in the box, they haven't been taken out for use. Not sure if my nerdilcious man will just keep it as a souvenir or what. But the shipping was fairly quick which was nice.
