120V to 100V 1600W Step Down Voltage Converter for Japan appliances in US

Works great; I’ve only used it a couple of times but haven’t had any trouble with it. It has saved me from burning up my mochi maker (a 100V unit)

The step down transformer appears to be well made with a most user friendly design... plug the grounded power conductor into your 120 V outlet and then plug your 100 V maximum 2000 Watt device (in our case a Tiger 900 100 V 900 Watt mochi maker) into either of the two grounded power out recepticals, push the power on button on the top of the attractive device and you’re all set. There is a informative real time LCD voltage in/power out display. Seems to generate very little heat or noise. An excellent, solid (hefty) device which appears to be an excellent value. Highly recommended.

If you've bought power-hungry electronics equipment in Japan and you're worried about our US voltage causing damage over time (you should be!), the UMI 120V to 100V Converter may be your best bet. I've lived in Japan and Europe for many years and have used many converters (220V, 110V, 100V), but most of them sported a bulky, ugly, industrial design or were slim-lined solutions that couldn't handle higher wattage appliances. I've used the 120V to 100V step-down model for a few weeks for a Japan-made Tiger "donabe" rice cooker with a 1,000 watt rating and have been operating it without issue twice a week or more. The UMI Converter looks good -- almost like a small, slim desktop PC, and has a clearly labeled input and output outlet. I have it permanently situated behind my rice cooker along the backsplash of my kitchen and it blends in nicely. It's easy to turn off when not in use and has clear read-outs for voltage and wattage on the front. It's not cheap In case you're confused, even though most US appliances are rated for 110V, if you measure the voltage output of your outlets you may actually encounter 120V and 125V current. Since my rice cooker is designed for sale in Japan only and has electronic logic modules/timers/displays and speech output, it probably doesn't take kindly to voltage fluctuations. With 1,600 Watt capacity, it can handle my 1,000 Watt cooker without problems and guarantee a long lifespan. I'll report back in in case the converter bows out prematurely, but so far, it's exactly what I was looking for.

Provides proper voltage and wattage for my 100 volt amplifier. Very pleased with performance and no apparent issues with current supply during musical demands. Recommend unit!

I recently purchased a rice cooker from Japan that is super power hungry. I stumbled upon this nice looking converter and bought it. It's big but it looks really nice unlike other converters so well worth sitting next to an awesome Japanese rice cooker. We joke that between the rice cooker and the converter they look like we have a crazy machine setup on our kitchen counter that may cook up meals for us, haha. It does take up some space (more than our macbook, lol) and it is heavy; but glad that I found something that works aesthetic and won't break our brand new rice cooker. This converter has suction cups underneath so it won't slip; it doesn't make any noise either, and is definitely the best looking one out there.

We bought a high-end rice cooker in Japan, but were dismayed when we got it home and it kept erroring. We read that some newer electronics are sensitive to voltage ranges so bought this unit and we are so glad we did! After running the rice cooker through it, we have had zero problems and perfect rice every time. The readout even shows power consumption so you can see how much your appliance is drawing. Highly recommended, saved our rice cooker investment! Note the unit is VERY heavy and bulky (about the size of a toaster) so this is not for travel!

We recently went to Japan and the wife bought some electronic beauty devices that only operates at 100V. This step down converter does the job beautifully. The device was well made and appears reliable that we don't have to worry it will damage the electronics plugged into it. It is quite heavy and despite its slimmer profile than other converters, it still takes up some desk space. Really happy with the device.

I bought this to use for my hairdryer I got in Japan. It worked well for the first couple months of light use but suddenly it stopped turning off and sporadically not working. Luckily with the 2 year warranty the seller was able to resolve this issue by sending a replacement unit. Seller was responsive and resolution was quick. Hoping it was just a bad model and the new one will last longer.
