Q: What exactly is being assembled? I’m disappointed to see ‘made in china’ when I opened it. The whole purpose of paying more was to support mfg in US

We use components that are sourced globally (including from Whirlpool) but we design, assemble and ship the microwave from Boulder, Colorado.

Q: Why is this so expensive?

Thanks for asking! These microwaves are powder coated. Powder coating gives customers the longest-lasting, and most color-durable quality finish available. Powder coated surfaces are more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing than other finishes. Colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Powder coating is also highly protective of our environment. While liquid finishes contain solvents which have pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), powder coating contains no solvents and releases negligible amounts, if any, of VOCs into the atmosphere. Thus, there is no longer a need for finishers to buy costly pollution control equipment. In addition, most powder coating overspray that does not adhere to the part can be retrieved and reused, virtually eliminating the waste commonly found in liquid finishing processes. In addition, we support US manufacturing through assembly and design in the United States, and that we are proud to pay US workers who get treated fairly. This microwave is assembled in Boulder, Colorado. Hope that explains it a bit. Thank you for your time!

Q: Powder coated for ~$600? this is the reason why Americans are forced to by products made overseas. make things more affordable for american people.

I'm sorry our prices upset you. We build our appliances by hand one at a time in our US factories. We understand that many appliances are made thousands at a time in large factories overseas using robots. We are a small team dedicated to making beautiful looking products with American labor. Our priority isn’t to make the cheapest products but to make beautiful products that people will treasure in their kitchens.
