This program works
This book played an enormous role in healing from secondary Vaginismus. I had pain for 3 1/2 years and now only rarely. My husband and I took the steps from this book and altered them to include him equally, though the steps are designed to be done alone so anyone can do them. Doing this was empowering and over time we saw more and more progress until the steps were no longer needed and pain became rare. I recommend practicing this book in conjunction with reading When Sex Hurts: A Woman's Guide to Banishing Sexual Pain by Andrew Goldstein, Caroline Pukall, and Irwin Goldstein. I also tried pelvic floor therapy with biofeedback at the same time and while it helped, I found yoga to be more beneficial long term. Through all this I also did counseling and a lot of self-reflection and self-esteem building because this experience sure can break you down like nothing else.It took me 1.5 years just to get a diagnosis and all the while my condition was made worse by doctors who didn't know what they were talking about and were putting me on very strong medications for something I did not have. My doctor made me feel like it was all in my head, and no one I knew understood what I was going through except my husband. It took us one year after reading these books to eliminate the pain, but we persevered and it was so worth it. If you are experiencing pain, stay strong because you can and will get through it. Keep trying because eventually you will find the something that works for you!

Helpful adjunct to pelvic floor PT
I'm so happy I finally pulled the trigger and ordered this book. I have been going to pelvic floor physical therapy for a little under a year now for tight pelvic floor muscles (specifically in level 1 muscles around the introitus/vestibule). I did fine for a while, but my progress got excruciatingly slow in the past 4 months or so. I had to take about a month off from seeing my PT because she was changing clinics and bought this book out of desperation because I wasn't progressing at all. I found SO MANY helpful tips and tricks to help me progress more quickly. The stretches and suggestion to do vibration therapy were the most useful.I found this dilator set to be really effective for following her program.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00121B0H8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1I would add that the only thing that I found to be missing was emphasis on diaphragmatic breathing that I learned from my PT.

Great, Very Informative
My Physical Therapist recommended me get this at the end of our sessions to continue our work. It's a great reference book. Quick to thumb through after you've read it for reference.

More women need this book
Heard the author’s interview on Sex with Emily podcast and decided to buy the book. Definitely the first step in my path to recovering my sex life. This validated and helped me understand the issue. I’ve made significant progress though it is slow. Importantly the book is now a supplement to formal pelvic floor therapy for me. This book actually shows the correct way to help relax the pelvic floor although a real PT is the best option. My PT says she sees so many women with this problem. Don’t accept painful sex, you can heal!

There's hope!
As many with vaginismus will attest, I felt so confused and broken before I stumbled upon this book. Despite several gynecologist visits (during which I was always assured that the discomfort would eventually go away) I was still experiencing excruciating pain, so the straightforward title of this book definitely hooked me. The steps are clear, gentle, concise and accessible. The author is encouraging without being pushy, and provides sympathetic direction and open discussion of a physical (and deeply emotional) condition I had never heard of before I was "diagnosed." I have been working, slowly but surely, through the steps and my husband and I have seen amazing progress. We now have so much hope.

This is an essential self help guide for women of all ages who have painful sex! This book is a terrific step by step guide to getting the sex life you want, and deserve. As a women's health Physical Therapist, I heartily endorse this book. it gives detailed information and would benefit many women with practical tips. This book goes over many things that a PT specialist would in a session and would be a valuable resource to many who have the widespread problem of painful sex. I have bought 2 copies already and they are on loan to my patients.Buy this book for yourself or a friend! It is excellent and women need to know that there are non-surgical and non-medicine options that can help.

Only for insertion pain.
This is only for pain of insertion. It's basically a how to use your dilator kit. Still can't find anything that covers pain deep inside during sex.

No-nonsense guide to overcoming pain
This book has been my guide and support for the last three months in overcoming vaginismus. It is very clear in both explanations and instructions, and the steps are easy to follow. Since I cannot afford therapy program, this book offered me the closest thing to having a doctor right beside me guiding me through the steps, problem-solving and motivating me as I progressed through the therapy. The results will be different for everybody, and the reader does need to put in effort and go through with the excercises with consistance and commitment, but in my case it has helped me overcome something I have been battling with for years.

An excellent resource for sufferers of vulvodynia and dyspareunia
This is a really excellent book for sufferers of dyspareunia and vulvodynia, I would highly recommend this. I learned more from this book than from 10 years of fruitless appointments with NHS doctors and physios. I also really appreciated the fact that the author makes an important distinction between vaginismus and hypertonic pelvic floor syndrome, which most medical professionals do not do. I found this really helpful in validating my own experiences after years of being told my pain was essentially "in my head" and really appreciated the book's no-nonsense recognition that dyspareunia has a physical cause. The book lays out a straightforward treatment plan with proper guidance on how to actually use the dilators to administer pelvic floor physio to yourself, including trigger point and connective tissue massage, treatments which it is almost impossible to get anywhere on the NHS. I've had to pay a lot to receive such treatments privately, so this book is a helpful companion to those already receiving pelvic floor treatments and especially for those who can't afford to go private, or don't have access to a physio who specialises in offering these treatments. Give the book a try and good luck!

So thankful for this book
This is the best book I have ever bought and I actually became pain free quite quickly. I hope every woman suffering from painful sex works through these exercises.

Works for me!! I was diagnosed with vaginismus and given dialators but no treatment plan, so progress was next to none. I tried this method and am already on D4 in just three weeks. So glad!
