Great no-fuss wax at good price point!
I refinish and paint furniture and have tried several waxes as a top coat to protect paint. This wax meets All of My criteria: -goes on smoothly -dries fast -polishes up smoothly, evenly, and not shiny -protects chalk and satin furniture paint. -low price. Some others I’ve tried: Behr - good price but can go on chunky and can polish up inconsistently. Dixie Belle gator hide- Very strong but pricey at $36 and is way too shiny for me Fusion - super smooth To apply but pricey at $40 and can polish up Inconsistently. 2 hour dry time. Mini wax - cheap but too chunky to apply. This wax adds the right amount of perk and sheen to chalk paint. Not too much shine so less problem with inconsistent shiny streaks. It’s good protection for sides and drawers. It may be fine on tops too but I use polycrylic on high use surface tops for max strength.

A very good wax
I always useJohnson paste wax unfortunately they don’t make it anymore or if you can find.it the price is astronomical. I just use the trewax applying it by hand and using my buffer. The wax is slightly thinner than Johnson, but does a very good job. I would not hesitate. to buy it again.

Great value!
I started my new hobby of chalk painting recently. I decided to do some research on the best type of wax to use. Most people recommended Annie Sloan or Minwax but the price made me hesitant. So I found Trewax on Amazon and noted how much cheaper the two pack was compared to anything else for one jar (probably half the price!). So, I figured Amazon has a great return policy and I wasn't risking much. While reading reviews, I noted people saying how this wax was much harder than other waxes--specifically Annie Sloan's soft wax. I was so eager to use it, I started right when it arrived. It was definitely hard and I had to put a lot of elbow grease into waxing my current project. I alternated between using my waxing brush and the yellow pad included with the Trewax. I like the yellow pad a lot for smooth surfaces, easier to get in the grooves. After some time, I realized I should try the wax after it had acclimated to room temperature. This is the key to this wax I've found. I keep my house around 69-70 degrees. Storing the wax inside the house has made a huge difference in it's performance. It is much easier to apply and much much easier to buff. I've included a picture of some frames I've chalk painted and waxed using Trewax. I plan to make an empty frame wall with them. For the frames shown, I used a waxing brush to get in the grooves because of all the details. For something like a side table with a flat surface, the yellow pad that comes with the Trewax would be sufficient. Overall pros and cons: Pros: cost effective, comes with yellow pad that's great for applying to flat surfaces, great application, a little goes a long way Cons: harder wax, needs to acclimate the wax to room temperature to get the best consistency and application

Be ready to put some elbow grease into it
This paste wax leaves a nice, smooth finish.... once it's applied. I put this on my table saw and my benchtop planer. The finish was definitely what I was hoping for. My only complaint is the wax itself is very hard. It was difficult to pick up with just a cloth, so I ended up lightly back dragging with a scraper across the surface to get enough product before applying it. Overall, it's a quality paste wax with great results, but be prepared for a little extra effort during application.

Great for 100 year old wood floors that had wax
I used it to refinish a floor in 100 year-old house that was originally wax so I wanted to use wax again. It was not an easy process, but it wasn’t horrible. I did it by hand because the room was not that big and I don’t have to be in any hurry so I can do one room at a time. I’m going to do another bedroom soon. This beautiful floor was under my carpet.

This is pretty slick ;)
I saw this suggested to put on a table saw top for cutting, and honestly, its almost toooo good. I barely applied any of it - a little goes a long way. I can see using this for a ton of other things as well, and this container size is pretty much a life time supply unless you dont seal it properly.

Hard and no sponge applicator.
I got this to treat the surface of my drill press as someone recommended it given the paste wax in the old yellow and red container is no longer made. I decided to try it. The wax arrived and it is pretty stiff. Maybe the can had dried out. Also, there was no sponge applicator inside, but given the can was sealed, either it isn’t included or a quality control issue. Either way, I rubbed the wax in the can really hard until the cloth picked some up, applied it, let it dry and buffed it out. Worked OK, but I can’t help but think I got an old can. This stuff should have a loooong shelf life, so perhaps the container isn’t air tight. Anyway, I miss the stuff that came in the classic yellow and red can.

Anti-rust protection for tools and unfinished steel products
Smooth and easy to apply. Takes a while to dry to a haze so be patient. Nice finish. I use it on my steel products and tools.

Ideal for Waxing Gunstocks
I did not buy it for my floor but to wax gunstocks. You can buy "gunstock" wax and get a small bottle for about the same price as one of these tubs. When I clean and restore vintage military firearms, after the linseed oil has dried an application of this wax serves both to protect the wood and bring it back to life. It dries fairly quickly to a hard finish and can be buffed to a sedate gloss. The only drawback is that you need to heat it up to around 80 - 90F to be able to apply it easily. Ditch the expensive "gunstock" wax and use this product, you will be pleased and save money in the process.
