Is the cork band removable for cleaning?

It is removable, but the KeepCup website actually recommends you don't remove it. Just hand wash and dry with the cork band on. I imagine this is to prevent stressing the cork. Frequently removing/replacing the band might be what's causing the cork breakage several reviewers seem to be experiencing.

Are they completely leakproof? Ie can you turn it upside down?

No, it is not even remotely leakproof. Liquid seeps under the lid and dribbles out every time you take a sip. I have ruined many shirts because of these blasted cups. They are a waste of money.

Will this for in most cup holders?

Yes it fits in all sorts of cup holders. I have a 2003 Honda Civic and it fits in there perfectly plus I have 2005 Tacoma and it fits in that cup holder perfectly
