I’ve bought these initial necklaces for several people as gifts they loved them . They are stainless steel and don’t fade. I even have one myself.

They make break easily obviously if you tug on them however, that’s the ONLY time I’ve had to replace once. I have the gold one, my daughter has the silver one and as people who take A LOT of showers and hate removing jewelry, they have never tarnished.
