1090ES & UAT - Radios (Low Power UAT) and High Gain Antennas

Works great! Finally go to take the stratux flying and I picked up weather and ads b in great.

Setup in about 10 minutes. Booted into Stratux and it was running. It really was that simple. Nice to be able to support the software creator and get a good piece of gear in the process. I added some small heatsinks to the board and used two 60mm fans on the Stratux, just to keep things cool. Very happy.

Works as expected

I have just read the reviews and am surprised by the "Doesn't work" reviews. I have purchased 3 of these kits with the new lo power and yes I checked with my meter and it indeed uses notably less power which leads to less heat than the V2 version. They all have worked very well with one over 2 years old now. I suspect the "Doesn't work" comments could be associated with older S/W or not looking at the diagnostics page and seeing what is going on.

I am just stunned by the customer service I received from seller, Crew Dog! There was an issue with IC and without any hassle it was replaced. Product works great!!!!!! I use it all the time I fly. It works better then build in ADSB in the my training plane, which the club paid big $$$ to brand name vendor. I highly recommend this product and the seller.

So I use these on my stratux build. I got these because I thought that the longer antennas would get better reception in the shorter ones and since I've only tried the long ones I only know how well they perform. The downside to the long ones is that they get caught on things easier, they're easier to bend and they do start to separate at the joint a little bit and create a loss of connection. I have started being a little more careful with them and unscrewing them anytime the stratics is not in use and I put it in my bag so as to not damage them but it would be nice to just not have to worry about that so that's where maybe the shorter ones would come in handy and I could position them in the case to where they're strapped down to the case and I don't have to worry about them flopping around.

Easy to install. Cables are flexible enough. Picks up traffic and weather as it should!

Customer and product support is zero. Seller will not respond to inquires about product failure. My 978 works intermittently. It will receive three towers for a while and then no towers for a while. I am guessing the 978 SDR is bad. But there appears to be no way to contact seller to help trouble shoot or get a replacement SDR. Also the AHRS drifts 5-10degrees in roll after resetting. Reset again and it does the same. Very unreliable. The GPS works most of the time but occasionally will blank out. The 1090 appears to work flawlessly and I have had no apparent problems with that feature. I thought I'd save some money going this build-it-yourself route but it's starting to seem the opposite case is true.
