Is the fan located at the back (rear) of the unit or on top? Different reviewers indicate different locations for the fan? Also, how noisy is it?

The fan is located at the back of the unit. It runs very quiet. I was surprised at how quiet it was. Dehydrators that we have used in the past were so loud and noisy. I am really pleased with this product.

there are so many! how do i know which is best?

I know....but we took a chance on the Gourmia, after reading the reviews, and are very pleased! Good luck!

Does it come with a user guide? Mine doesn't have one. Thanks!

Yes, it comes with a owners manual which shows functions and maintenance of the dehydrator. It also came with a small 10 page recipe book..
