Landscape Painting Now: From Pop Abstraction to New Romanticism

This is really largely a book about American landscape painting - much of it of middling quality - seen from a US perspective with a few (often very obvious) choices of European artists thrown in. The texts are more or less informative in a very general sense, but hardly insightful given the environmental crisis that is already transforming our view of "landscape". As might be expected of an American publication on this topic, the overall sense is of a rather conservative, "parochial" view of an important area of contemporary painting that could have been much better served.

This is a wonderful book full of contemporary landscapes that blew my sock off. Just amazing. And so inspiring for any painter.
