Yes. Water and electricity shouldn't mix by the plug area. That's dangerous.

is this a male or female plug in for the cord?

This unit does not come with a cord you plug it in to a 120 vac socket and you use 2 lead ac cord to hook up what ever needs 24 volts ac

Will this work with Ring Camera?

No. Ring uses 18 VAC and 500 mA. Besides, the Ting Power Adaptor is on $14

Can i use an elv dimmer to vary the output voltage?

This is a basic old school power supply. And I would strongly think that it would not work with any sort of voltage dimmer.

This unit does its job - it gives you 24V. Though, even under a small loading (below 12VA) it heats very well which makes me believe its efificiency is not very high. Not a critical issue for a device of this price.

wow, this works

Plug it in, and it sends 24V.... just like it should. if it sent 18V or 12V, I would be disappointing. but it really does make 24V from my 118V (metered).
