French General: Home Sewn: 30 Projects for Every Room in the House

This is an absolutely stunningly presented book, and I would buy it just for the presentation, even if it didn't have any patterns. The pattern sheets are in a beautiful envelope pocket inside the front cover and are good and large - not the size one usually gets with a book. The book 'inside' the covers is spiral bound - great for referring to as you sew. But the pattterns and ideas are fairly simple, although I do love the idea of the Hanging Notions Organizer. As the name suggests, it is French style and to enjoy the book you must have a liking for this look.

I’ve enjoyed this book so much. It’s inspired me to great window covering as well as my own sheets and other items that give my home a unique lived in quality. I highly recommend this book.

Lovely neat book with patterns in the back in a folder for safe keeping. Lots of fun projects to do, beautiful pictures and tutorials. I purchased one for myself and one for my sister so we can do projects long distance! All the French General items are interesting and great content.

A beautifully presented book that was a pleasure to flick through. I don't know if there is anything that I will actually make from it though. It has a lovely envelope at the front of the book which holds all of the patterns.

I looked at this book at the bookstore, and it's completely my aesthetic: Warm, colorful, textured, vintage-inspired. Lots of fun ideas. I would definitely buy it if I were seeking inspiration for home sewing decor ideas.People who like the "Shabby Chic" series might be attracted to "French General."UPDATE January 2013: I bought it and will report back on my experience with the projects. They seem clear to me, but it's hard to tell without putting them to the test.UPDATE January 2015: I made the apron. It's listed as "advanced," but is easy if you have experience.

Another great crafting book!

This is the best book I've bought in a long time. I am inspired by Kaari and all of her ideas. I have a huge stash of French textiles and there are lots of great ideas and projects I will find useful. I have recommended this book to fellow textile fanatics and we all love it. Since getting to know about French General and Kaari Meng I have started to follow her blog and to check her website often. For anyone with a passion for lovely old French linen and other fabrics this is THE book.

I ordered a new book and received one with a personal dedication signed on the inside. The pattern and other pages of the book were clean and unused, and it wasn’t a gift so I kept it.

La edición y el formato están muy cuidados y la encuadernación nos permite utliizarlo con comodidad.Nos da instrucciones claras sobre como hacer 30 proyectos diferentes y muy variados, desde cojines, hasta bolsas de la compra, una cortina de baño, manteles individuales, un cojín para una silla, o un delantal. Al final del libro viene una explicación con dibujos de cómo hacer los diferentes puntos.También incluye un sobre con los patrones a tamaño natural los proyectos.La mayor parte de los proyectos del libro están hechos con las telas de French General, pero podemos adaptarlos a las telas que nosotros queramos.Es un libro muy bonito e ideal para regalar.

I love this book, presentation is just beautiful. There is an envelope in the front of this book that holds all the patterns for the projects shown.Each project has one cotton reel as easy level up to three for advanced, so you can start something simple and be sure to be able to complete and work your way up to the advanced stages. This is a must have for any sewers not only for the projects but, also just to be able to sit and read such a lovely book.Kimberley
