CRJ 4-Pin to Slimline SATA Power Adapter Cable - 12-inch (30cm), Black Sleeved - Power 6-Pin Slimline SATA Disk Drives with a 4-Pin Peripheral Molex Power Supply Connector

This cable was the solution for me to upgrade an HP 750-167c desktop computer's power supply using an EVGA 500B PSU. The 500B's Molex power connectors are all male. This adapter cable allowed me to use one of those connectors to power the built-in optical drive (a Slimline SATA connector). This was the ONLY cable I could find that functioned this way. It's working well - so far so good. The length is good, the cable quality is above average (it would benefit from a bit more reinforcement where the cable attaches to connectors); however, since this is more of a plug-and-leave-it-be installation, it's fine - I'm not planning to be plugging this adapter cable in and out frequently, if ever again. This particular older HP system is going to be repurposed for audio production primarily (I'm in the midst of upgrading: its HDD has been replaced by a 1TB SSD, the RAM upgraded to 16GB, a TI-chipset Firewire card's been added - all of which has gone well so far). I'll soon be adding a new MSI GeForce GT 1030 Nvidia-based 4GB graphics card (part of why I wanted a PSU better than the 300W OEM unit) and a secondary 500GB SSD dedicated for data. This Windows 10 setup will be for DAW usage and it's plenty good for that purpose.

I originally bought the StarTech.com 6in Slimline SATA to SATA Adapter with Power - Slim SATA (F) to SATA (M) - Slimline Serial ATA to SATA (SLSATAADAP6) , Red (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009JXKQ9O) as I needed an adapter for a slimline optical drive to fit in my desktop PC but it would not power the drive as there's a loose connection in between the power cable. So I bought this instead & voila it worked like it should.

The newer and smaller DVD drives have mini 6-Pin SATA connectors instead of the standard SATA. Needed because I updated the power supply on my desktop but the new one didn't have this mini 6-Pin Slimline SATA connector. This fits the bill and works on a spare standard molex 4-pin connector on the new power supply.

I added a graphic card and needed another SATA power plug. This converted the Molex to 6 pin SATA to power my slimline DVD drive. works great.

This adapter worked great for me since I ran out of molex connectors on my power supply. It has not sacrificed any power or noise. It has been going strong for 6 months now.

If are trying to hook up an internal DVD for an HP Envy, be careful. You don't want this cable. The length is good, it's easy to use and of decent quality. But, it will fry your power supply if you hook it to the DVD drive.

The first one I bought "disappeared" when someone cleaned my office space. The second one was easy to install and works as advertised. Speedy delivery from the vendor.
