puts the fun back in taking the stairs for my dog
I literally have never written an amazon review, but I feel compelled to recommend this harness to anyone who has a dog with mobility issues. I've only had the thing for less than a day and it's completely changed my dog's attitude (and mine!) about the stairs. He's 11, weighs about 45 lbs, and has been very athletic his entire life, but after surgery on his legs two years ago he's lost quite a lot of muscle mass on his back half. Add that to me having a baby this year and being unable to carry him around and up the stairs, and it's made his confidence absolutely plummet. He's been falling up and down the stairs for months, which has made him scared and clearly caused him a lot of pain, and caused me an insane amount of stress because I can't help. This thing has changed that overnight. It's made going up the stairs fun for him again. He's practically flying up with minimal effort from my end. Just a little bit of lift (with one hand!) and his back legs can actually make it onto the steps and find purchase. I'm barely putting any effort in at all! And since I'm able to use it one-handed, I am able to carry my baby around and ALSO help my dog up the stairs. No more screaming baby when the dog has to go potty! I taught this dog how to use stairs when he was little and now this harness has suddenly made going up and down a fun trust building exercise between us again. I hadn't even realized that I missed having those kind of moments with him! It seems well constructed, extremely simple, but it feels sturdy. The support pad is surprisingly firm. I can't attest to the longevity of the harness, but frankly I don't care, because the relief of seeing my dog feel confident again outweighs the cost of buying this more than once if I have to. That being said, I would be extremely surprised if I didn't get a lot of use out of it since it's engineered so that, with my dog's cooperation, the harness doesn't get pulled or strained at all. It's not invasive, since it's really just a big strap, so my dog barely notices it's there and it's not a fight to get him to use it. Plus the simplicity of the design + lack of buckles or anything make it worth the effort to use- kind of a low effort high reward situation, since my dog needs to go downstairs to use the potty so many times a day, it would be extremely annoying to have to buckle and unbuckle him every time I needed to use it. After months of trying to find accessibility aids for my aging dog, this is the first product that has worked perfectly from the jump. It feels like the first real step in regaining my dog's independence.

Wonderful for elderly dogs with hip problems.
We have a 16 year old dog, and she just does not get around very well anymore. We were looking for something to help get her up and down the front steps and this was recommended to us. It's been a real help. We can assist her descent and ascent without having to carry her and causing her pain. The harness fits well and is padded for comfort. It doesn't weigh very much. It's super-easy to use. The learning curve for our dog was short. It's a plain, black color and the looks reflect the quality.

Cost - Functionality ratio - excellent
It is not about whether it LOOKS GOOD but its FUNCTIONALITY - In this case you do get both, but I am rating its functionality which is more important. My husband and I are in our late 60s - minor back issues. Our 12+ year old large collie has back-end leg issues with a combo of obsessive compulsive behaviors to compensate for his fear of making it up one wide step on to our deck. He now balks at going up steps, any steps. Because he has some severe moments of cognitive decline, we bought this and the - Coodeo Dog Lift Harness Support and Recovery Sling in size XXL which is more expensive, and lacks the stabilization and safety design of lifting a 90 lb. mildly stubborn, old, large dog. Of the two purchases, we prefer the Adj. Dog Lift, this product. High quality with respect to its durability and design with a nice fluffy interior and adjustable straps that allows us to lift together (1-2-3 outloud) as Dom is unable to jump up one wide stair on to the deck to enter the house. The size L works wonderfully - I will say the representative picture is ok, but you want to shorten the straps, I would imagine, for heavier and/or,large dogs like Dom who becomes dead weight in the moment of flight up the stair. After several days of use, I just want to say I do prefer this sling. One of us takes the front. the other theback, where the sling supports the back end. It is very easy for me to lift and is saving us all from getting hurt!

Good first step for weakening dog
Purchased this for our aging lab who, as our vet says, has “chicken legs”. She has lost muscle tone in her back legs due to age and Cushings disease and she has lost her confidence in the stairs. We use this sling on her weak days to reassure her (and us) that if her legs give out, we’ve got her til she’s back on her feet. It’s simple, sturdy, and does the job. She seems unfazed by it, barely even batting an eye when we use it, so apparently it comes across as a non-threatening intervention. Recommend as a good first step. I would not lift her in the air with this since it goes around her belly. She would either tip forward or tip back. When she needs more regular help we will go to a harness with handles on shoulders and hips to have the option to support her front half or back half or both.

Very Comfortable
I had to return this item because my dog passed away before her surgery and the intended use of the sling, however upon practicing it with her and she was a 155 pound girl, we found the sling slid quite a bit, I think our dog was so large. It is however very soft and very well made. Had my dog not passed away before surgery. I most likely would have kept this just to have on hand for any type of emergency. The price is on point and for your dog comfort it would be worth having.

A bit Akward
It works OK if properly positioned but in general it's a bit awkward to use. Underbody strap could maybe be a bit bigger?

A high-quality, well-fitting lift sling.
The quality, packaging, size and fit of this lift sling is excellent. The width of the fleece-lined portion provides really good support and the Large size was a perfect fit for my 100 lb. Golden Retriever. Most of the description shows the sling being used to support a dog's rear legs however, my guy has arthritis in his front legs and this sling offers great support for front legs. Once he feels the security of the sling supporting him, he walks almost normally.

Purchased the right size for my dog’s weight but when I put it in him it slid right off. Couldn’t pick him up at all. It slids off and doesn’t grip around as shown in the photo.

This support harness has been an absolute game changer for our 14-year-old, 40 kg Labradoodle who’s been struggling with hind leg weakness. It’s very sturdy and well-made, yet soft and comfortable for him to wear. The handles give us great control and make it easy to help him get up, walk, or climb stairs without putting any strain on his joints — or on our backs! The padding is gentle on his belly and doesn’t cause any irritation, even with frequent use. You can really tell this was designed with both the dog’s comfort and the owner’s ease in mind. If you have an older or mobility-challenged dog, I can’t recommend this harness enough. It’s made such a difference in our daily routine and in helping our boy stay mobile and happy.

Was perfect for my dog for post op recovery. A lot more comfortable for dog then a Sling provided by vet. Would recommend to anyone with dog receiving orthopedic surgery
