Senco DS275-18 Cordless Collated Screwdriver

As a Home Improvement Contractor I hang a lot of sheetrock and blueboard. This screw gun is fantastic! It is so much faster than the traditional electric screw guns that I've been using. The best thing is how long the battery last. On my 1st job using this screw gun we hung 35 sheets of 1/2" blueboard on just 1 battery. I kept waiting for the battery to run out, but it never did. I will defineatly purchase amother one soon.

Great item, but kind of a scam as it is useless without battery pack. CPO lists this in many places online & they do not include battery with any. They do NOT even carry ANY battery/battery packs for this. So if you think this is good deal, think again as battery pack is at minimum $[...] just for 1 & you can buy this from other sellers who will include 2 battery packs which is how it is sold new. Would be nice if all sellers were honest & up front & did not try to misrepresent by not stating it does not come with most important part.

...However- I was building a very large deck and I needed to screw down lots of composite decking. I was thrilled with the promise of this tool and I couldn't wait to get the thing. I happily got my new gun and charged my batteries. My first use worked very well right off the bat, but I could only drive about 25 or 30 screws before the battery died. I went to battery #2 and got similar results. (I was driving 2-1/2" composite deck screws.) I read the instructions again, and they stated that the batteries would hold a charge much better after 3 or 4 complete chargings. I really wanted this to work so I stuck with it a few more days. I gave the tool a fair opportunity to meet my needs, and I charged both batteries repeatedly over the next 3 days, but alas, The most screws I was able to drive before either battery died was around 50. I think the composite screws and decking materials are just too much for this thing to handle. I'm sure the tool would work very well with shorter screws and soft lumber applications like hanging drywall, but that wasn't why I needed the tool. Unfortunately, I was forced to send the tool back to Amazon. Now I'm back to scewing down the decking with my cordless drill and a metal screwguide. Oh well- It was worth a try. Maybe I should have bought the corded version...

I've only used this tool for one day. I built a retaining wall. The wall is made of pressure treated Douglas Fir lumber, which is pretty tough. I shot about 400 3" Duraspin screws and 100 2.5" screws on day one. To shoot 3" screws you have to remove the plastic screw guard which takes about 2 seconds with no tools. I had to clear a few minor feeding problems due to the 3" screws. I had no problems shooting 2.5" screws. I like the size/length of this gun. I shot several screws at awkward angles, and in somewhat cramped spaces. I have no complaints with the power or function of this gun. I followed the directions for charging the batteries... I had no problem using one battery while the other battery finished charging. The plastic tool case is nice, but big. It's about twice the size of a typical driver or nail-gun box. I have a couple of deck projects coming up so this tool will be greatly appreciated. This tool should be running on nice lithium batteries so using the Ni-Cads is just ok. I suspect this Senco tool will last as long as most good rechargable drill/drivers... it's not built cheap. The batteries will probably crap out before it

This review may are may not be as helpful as I don't know if this is still being produced, but I've had this since 2004 and only now are the original two batteries going completely dead; that's 12 YEARS of life out of them! My Milwaukee's (both older NiCADs 18vs and newer generation L-ion 18vs and 28Vs) and Dewalt batteries got nowhere near that life span. Granted, I'm not a professional but this invaluable tool has gone through 3 full house remodels where almost the entire interiors were gutted down to the studs, including ceilings.Although there are newer collated screwdrivers now on the market, including multi-purpose ones that can function as regular drivers since they come with removable drywall screw attachments, I'm simply going to get replacement batteries (actually, getting the original batteries rebuilt) as this tool has proven it can do the job for me. Besides, I have several cordless drivers and drills, so I don't need yet another one.I don't have any experience using 3" drywalls screws, but it's worked just fine for me with shorter ones.

I have the corded version of this gun and it works so much better than this one. Unless you hold it just right plan on lots of wasted screws.

I purchased this to build an 80' X 80' privacy fence to keep our pack of dogs corralled. With 1-3/4" collated screws, also by Senco, the job went very quickly. I love this thing! My next project will be to test it with drywall screws to finish our basement.
