Garbage. Uses a cheap desktop heater fan with the logo scratched off.
Overpriced piece of garbage. The heater unit is a cheap, discontinued Holmes Desktop heater fan, model HFH111T-U, with the logo and part information scratched off. The heater shuts down long before the internal temp reaches 100 degrees.

I Spent 350 bucks for this piece of crap. The heaters always turn off so the unit does not reach the temperature needed to kill bed bugs.I received two replacement heaters and they both turn off as well. If there was an option to give zero stars this piece of junk deserves it

Seek Alternative Product
I ordered the previous version of this product. It was recalled as it was determined the unit could overheat and catch fire. Kinda scary. While the PackTite website lists the recall information, I have spent the better part of 5 months trying to get my parts replaced. After calling and emailing several times to receive a return shipping label and instructions, I received one about 1 1/2 months later. I'm unsure which of the 4 phone calls or 3 emails resulted in the shipment of the return kit, however I was thankful it finally arrived. In late June I mailed my defective parts back to PackTite and have been waiting for the replacement parts to ship since then. One might think they would ship the replacement parts first, and then have me return the defective parts? But apparently that is not the plan. Regardless, unless you call the "recall hotline" it's impossible to reach anyone from the company, and typically they just ask you to send an email to them explaining what you need. Or they take down your phone number but no one ever calls back. I would be very cautious about purchasing this product, or anything else from this company - they do not seem very reputable and seem to be going out of business. There are several other units on the market that do something similar - I would seek an alternative product.

I'd look elsewhere for a better product.
Pack time replaced my recalled Packtite with this Packtite 2 unit. Unfortunately, the Packtite 2 unit is not well designed and does not do the job. The heater sits loosely outside the case and blows air in through a cut-out in the case. There is so much ventilation that it never reaches the required temperature. The heater itself shuts off intermittently, making it even more difficult to raise the internal temperature. I'd look elsewhere for a better product.

Debugged my possessions and saved my sanity - love it!
I bought the original PackTite in 2012 when our apartment was infested with bedbugs from another unit in the building. After trying and failing for several months to get rid of the bugs, we finally decided that moving was the only option. We put every thing that would fit into the PackTite, heated it according to the instructions, and then put it straight into a plastic bag and removed it from the building. It took about 3 weeks to get through everything in our studio apartment (lots of clothes and books) but eventually we felt we had debugged everything we could. I didn't write a review of this product right away because I wanted to see if the bugs were truly gone. It has now been two years and I have not seen a single bug since, nor had any evidence of bites. The PackTite saved my sanity and allowed us to keep our stuff instead of throwing everything out and starting over. Even though we currently do not have bugs, I keep the PackTite in the closet just in case (we move frequently). When the current recall happened, I procrastinated on sending in my heater for replacement because I was in the process of moving again. However, once I contacted the company, they were very prompt in sending out the instructions and packing labels. After a few weeks they contacted me to say that the replacemenet parts were out of stock but they would be willing to replace the unit entirely with the PackTite 2 at no cost. I agreed, and the new unit appeared on my step within the week.I have been very impressed with the PackTite. We successfully moved out of a thoroughly infested apartment and did not take a single bug with us. My only grumble about the unit is that sometimes it was difficult to heat the unit to the highest temperature necessary if the items in there were particularly dense or well insulated (sweaters, mainly). Despite this, it seems to have worked just fine. While I still live in fear that someday the bugs will be back (wholly irrationally), I know we will be able to handle it proactively if necessary. I definitely recommend this product.
