Video AV Adapter for Sony Playstation 2 PS2 to HDMI Converter w/ 3.5mm Audio Output, for HDTV HDMI Monitor by Farenow

I previously tried an RCA to HDMI converter/upscaler (one of the square box units with a switch btwn 720p and 1080p) and it didn’t work. I gave this a chance and it did the trick. I can hook up my PS2 to modern flatscreens and the picture is great. Currently playing on. 65in Samsung that is about 3-4 yrs old. I don’t recall if I had to adjust any system settings on the PS2 itself but the info was online - I think I found some Reddit threads about this. Sorry, it’s a new review for a product I purchased a while ago and once I got the settings right to get it to work, I forgot all about them since I started playing retro games again.

I used this converter to connect a Playstation 2 to an HDTV with just HDMI ports. It was easy to setup and the picture was decent considering the PS2 isn't HD. However I discovered that one of the Guitar Hero games supports progressive scan output. When I selected that option, I was really surprised at how good it looked.Have been using this device for 3 months now without problems.

The media could not be loaded.  To reinvigorate the PS2 in storage, I wanted to connect it to the 150” 8k projector. Now this is still 480i but it works well. I notice no issues with the device as far as how well it converts the AV. I did notice it doesn’t plug in lien it’s sticking straight out. It seems bent slightly down. Also the usb power plug comes out right into the PS2 power cable. It should have been designed to come out on the other side. But it works. As long as no one handles it, I think it will last. Maybe heat will eventually break the internal components, we will see.

With 4K becoming the new standard for televisions you're starting to see more and more TV's without component/analog AV jacks. This device allowed me to hookup my PS2 to my new TV easily. Not only was it simple, it also improves the picture quality enough to be noticeable. I would buy this adapter even if I had jacks on the TV just for the bump in image quality.

Firstly, this item needs a power source. For me it came with a Micro USB cable to hook into the PS2, however, it needs a Mini usb to be powered. After solving that issue no signal ever came through to the TV. As other reviewers have said it also is a bit difficult to get into the PS2's AV slot which feels like you're at the point of breaking it.I'd pass on this and shell out some more money for the better, well reviewed adapters.

Pros- Works like a charm- Decent Projection of Playstation 2 Image -> Elgato 4K Card -> MonitorCons- When attaching to Playstation 2 Slim, the USB Power Connector has to burrow under the Power Cord rather tightly (Not an ideal condition for long term usage as it could apply pressure to the Power Cable's Input into the System itself.)Overall, it fulfills it's purpose but the long term usage may cause permanent damage not just to the cable but to the port for power itself which is dissatisfactory and rather foolish of the designer.

The adapter really helped to clear up text and overall image in the PS2 games. I would recommend purchasing.Note though ... make sure you read notes in the product description on Amazon's page for this item."The PS2 must be set up for Component Video Output (YPBPR) as opposed to RGB output before use"

The only issue is that the usb power cord from the hdmi unit and the power cord from the game console are slightly in the way of each other, but they are flexible and low voltage. sound is great, picture is awesome. Never thought ps2 could look this good and my ps2 is well over 10 years old. great product [since some newer tv's don't have RCA jacks]
