It can work. I used the 2mg to quit smoking about 2 years ago. Now I'm totally addicted to nicorette, but at least it's not smoking. I could phase off nicotene entirely, but work is stressful.... But, still, I'd say the answer is yes.

Can you use nicorett gum while wearing the nicoderm patch?

I would think both Nicorette gum and patchers are stand alone products and shouldn’t be used together. I would check with your Doctor before doing this.

Does this have the ridiculous yellow dye in it that makes your lips, teeth and spit yellow?

It does have a Yellow 10, but it has never caused my husband any color problems that you describe.
