These particular hooks are 12" wide. You need to look for Flexco 15-24 for a 20" wide belt. Those are 24 inches and you can cut them down.

Is this the version you use a hammer to install?

yes, the alligator clip needs to be flatted onto the surface for secure contact. A hammer works perfectly, I used a rubber one.

what is the differants between 5-12, 7-12 and 25-12 ?

The 5, 7, and 25 is a guideline for the thickness of belt and recommended pulley diameter it can be used on. The 12 in each one of the numbers indicates the width of lacing.I can't post a link or picture here but if you google alligator lacing size chart it will give you several images with that info on it.
