I bet you a dollar you can't read this without laughing
This little book is awesome. As a perfectly averagely heighted woman (the mighty 5'4"), I am just on the bubble of being short. However, this height did not come to me until I was about 17, so most of my life I was always either the, or close to the, shortest around. I never stopped to pause at how many awesome things that meant before it was too late and they were gone. Now I am just another normal sized person. Oh regret... However, if you are short, or know someone who is short, grab this baby up NOW and start appreciating all the cool bene's of being bitty. This book has a great hand drawn illustrations that are simple, uber creative and witty, and have the coolest little details. My favorite reason I'd Rather Be Short? "You are automatically awesome at hide-and-seek."It is colorful and super nice. Would be a great gift for anyone smaller than the average bear.

Clever, Funny Book About Being A Shorty (but also self-acceptance in general)
More than anything, this book is about celebrating who you are and self-acceptance. Becky should write many books because she does an amazing job of pointing out little things that make being a shorty better. We all need to be reminded to celebrate what makes us, especially when the quality might be seen as less than ideal. As a person of just below average height, I can relate to some of the illustrations, but I also learned more about what shorties face. I also laughed with tears in my eyes. In addition to being an awesome illustrator, Becky has a clever sense of humor that will make you smile over and over.If you're short, or know someone who is (and especially if they struggle with it at all), this book would be a gift to them! I guarantee that you won't regret this purchase.

Being short is not great for an American male - believe me, I am one of those defined "short s***s'
I am a short male was 5' 3' and now 5' 1 and 1/2". I'd rather be short is somewhat funny but for a short male there are many, many difficult issues throughout life. Example: my college sweetheart was 5' 8' tall - her mother would not allow us to be married in her hometown and their church. On and on it goes - and sociological studies find that the greatest barrier of a potential boyfriend or marriage is his height. I was turned down for a job at IBM due to my shortness. Jokes about short men galore: e.g. if everyone in a room is asked to rise [stand] often one hears "stand up Johnny", or if someone is talking across a table often it is stated about another short man "he is cocky, a piss ant, you know . . . one of those short s***s" and if you say "I am the same height as he is" the response "well doesn't have the shoulders you have" etc. etc. Yes, I just joke it away, gut the whole bias is a proverbial pain in the ass. Becky Murphy is joking it away - but if she is a short woman I am certain that she did not accept dates and/or lovers who are also quite short.

I’m tiny (like Thumbelina to a lot of people, probably), so when I came across this book (and I was looking for a “boost your ego” kinda thing), I didn’t know how to feel about it. Then I read the other reviews and decided to try it for myself. I couldn’t stop laughing! Omg the book is so true - reality bites but with a touch of humor. I can definitely say, “count thy blessings!”

Is there a cooler book? I think not.
Cute. Classy. Creative to the max. Need I say more?Just ordered this book for the two shortest family/friends I know, and if I can think of anyone else under 5'3, they are definitely getting one. Everyone with a short friend should buy one for their next birthday/christmas/valentines/etc. gift, or for no reason other than to tell them you love them. I'm sure everyone in their situation could use a little encouragement and (more than) a few chuckles in their day, who doesn't? Go on, make someones day.

Amazing!
Perfect for giggles and gifts – I loved the humor and wit inherent throughout the book (plus it's always good to be reminded why being short is awesome!). Couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole thing!I ordered a couple copies of this book, intending to save some for Christmas gifts, but I immediately gave away my extras to fellow short friends. Had to share!

They'll still let you purchase the book if you're over 5'0!!
One thing's for sure, I didn't have to reach too high off the shelf to grab this book! Becky's playful illustrations and wit will make any 5'7 human re-think the advantages of being tall. She has a true talent & I recommend this book for anyone, tall or short. Perfect stocking stuffer for all those 5 feet & under loved ones in your life!

Not that funny!
I purchased the book because I love Dana Perino and she plugged it on "The Five".I am also short.....and was looking forward to a "Coffee Table" book that would be hilarious. It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. Some of the cartoons were hilarious....butnot enough to make it a really good book.Sorry.
