Builder Brigade’s solid recommendation
I picked up this vacuum breaker on the advice of Builder Brigade, a construction YouTuber popular for his exceedingly helpful homeowner tips. This is no exception. The product is superior to your six dollar vacuum breakers from the home center and absolutely prevents my hose bib from spraying everywhere when I close it. It’s also totally eliminated the unpleasant sound from within the house that could be heard when the hose was drawing water. I highly recommend this product to any homeowner experiencing these issues on their property.

Minimal splashing of water
Doesn't squirt water (or have whining sound for low flow as was heard on two spigots) when turning on the outdoor hose use (my wife hated the cheaper ones that would squirt water on her when she turned the water on and when she turned the water off .) Like other vacuum breakers, internal components are made of a plastic that will degrade with exposure to sunlight, so a hose (or a hose-coil spring protector) needs to be on the exposed end of the breaker . As far as longevity, still good after one year (installed May 2018) but now have to turn on to about half-way point then dial down to lower flow without a bit of squirting through the breaker's openings..

Excellent product for standard pressurized water hose
Excellent product for pressurized water hose connection. Especially excellent for restaurants staff members requiring dish washing and floor washing usage. Took me a long time finding this Health Department approved/required device.

I had a single check-valve unit before purchased at a big box store that would leak all the time, especially after turning the water off. I wish that I had purchased the Woodford unit originally.

Leaks
Looks and feels well made, but I couldn't get it to seal at the hose bib. Litterally sprayed water continuously out of the top at the connection to the hose bib, and tightening did not fix it. Suppose I could try changing out the washer? If anyone has a simple fix I'll try it out and hopefully update the poor rating.

I don't trust a backflow preventer already connected to the spigot
This one works great and is quality, the ones at public campgrounds look to be ten years old and you never know if they still work.
