Q: Can it hold a 2-3 KG cake?

It measures 12" across...depends what pan you use for cake. Since there is no lid with it....the sky's the limit.

Q: What is the height of this 12" cake stand? I assume that it would hold up to a 12" cake. What does the manufacturer mean with: 8" x 10"; 9" x 12"

You really don't won't to put a 12" cake on a 12" diameter stand. I put a 10" cake on the 12" stand. You can do the 12" cake but it looks like it is too big for the stand. Also, each stand will tell you diameter and height if you read further down in the "details".
