Sango Nova Black 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

I bought my initial 4 place set about three years ago, and so far they look exactly the same and haven't shown much wear despite my rather cavalier way of treating them from dishwasher to microwave. I've not noticed and caramelization as another reviewer has noticed. Apart from one accidental, self-inflicted chip on the edge of a small plate, they still look excellent. In fact, I'm buying another set which prompted this review! I'm completely satisfied with my purchase and these dishes have served me well despite the somewhat careless way I've treated them. They stand up well to microwaving and the dishwasher both. Good quality dishware is difficult to find that looks this good; definitely worth the money I paid for @ B,B & B.

This is a wonderful set which I first checked out in person at a local retailer. I liked that the plates were heavier than average and the big plate was also a larger size than normal. I don't have the exact measurement but it barely fits in the dishwasher or my kitchen cabinet. The pattern varies from piece to piece and looks like each is handmade. There are variety of other Sango Nova products that can be purchased separately to build a bigger set. I ordered quite a few different products and 3 of them arrived damaged. These products are made of ceramics and they will break if not securely packaged. I noticed that Amazon usually does a good job packaging but Target does not.

Picked this set up as a gift for my wife. Was very pleased to see that I could still find this set, as my wife had received some pieces as a wedding gift when we were married 10 years ago. The items themselves are heavy and durable - the items we received as a gift ten years ago are still in great condition. Plates and bowls are larger than I anticipated, and the coffee cups will hold a 10 oz cup of coffee from my keurig with no trouble, unlike other sets of this type.One of the bowls arrived with a crack right down the middle, so I reached out to the seller (wayfair). They responded first thing Monday morning and shipped me a replacement bowl. Great customer service.

I will never buy another Sango product again. This is the pattern I registered for when I got married. Within a few years they were in a sorry state and kept chipping and breaking. I ordered this set to replace the worst of the lot with plans to buy a completely different set of something else in a year or two to replace all the Sango Nova Black dishes we have.When they arrived I noticed that they were a different color. They didn't match the old set. I rechecked my order to verify that I ordered the correct thing. I thought to myself, 'whatever, I'm going to replace all of them in a year or so'. I threw away the boxes. When I placed the plates in the dishwasher they wouldn't stand up because they were huge and curved. I then compared them to the old ones. The new ones were ALOT bigger, like an inch or so in diameter. They are just a little smaller than the platter that I have. The bowls were a slightly different size too!They immediately started chipping. I am so mad that I can't return them. Evey time I load the dishwasher I curse these crappy plates.

I really like this set. They are more beautiful then anything I have seen. They're an all occassion set. Unfortunately, the reviews here about the chipping hold up.A "clink" under the faucet head might chip the corner of a coffee piece. If you set a plate down on the sink floor without being careful can split the dinner plate. Microwaving for anything over a minute will leave a very hot soup bowl.I wouldn't mind so much if I could buy individual pieces to replace the broken pieces. Sango Nova do not sell replacement pieces for this set so you're stuck attempting to buy replacement pieces from places that'll charge you an arm and a leg (compared to what you paid). Or buying a whole new set.... eventually you'll have more pieces of one type of item than the other I suppose.My girlfriend would love for me to buy a replacement set... And I hope I don't have to go the ceramic/porcelain route as I find them ugly. I really wish Sango could improve this set... I would give it another go...

We were looking for a new dinnerware set, and these are perfect. We didn't want anything too fancy having three younger kids (7,9,10) still in the house, but still wanted something nice enough for when guests are over. These fit the bill. Sturdy, durable, eye appealing. The only thing I have noticed is that it seems the "painting" changes each time the dishes are run through the dishwasher. Not sure if this is from the heat. I happen to like it because it gives the plates character, but I did notice some people were not happy with that in other reviews.

I purchased these dishes a few months ago and when I opened them I was surprised to see how expensive looking they were. The colors are lighter inside and darker on the back which brings out the allure of these dishes. I use these dishes all the time and they haven't chipped or faded, but I only hand wash my dishes and maybe that's why I haven't had any issues. These are a lovely sophisticated set of dinnerware that will add just the right amount of class to any dinner.

I previously had this set and some of the plates broke when I shipped them when we moved across the country. I figured I needed more dishes anyway so I ordered a new set a year later:Pros - Plates are beautiful, the second set I bought is a little less faded around the edges than the first set, and has a sort of unique purple tint in the black edges (only if you look real close), but I think it adds character and they are wonderful.Cons - One of the mugs was cracked when I took it out of the box. I didn't bother to return the set though, since I have mugs from my previous set of dinnerware.Overall, wonderful plates, since this is my second purchase of the same set I'd say they are well worth the money and very sturdy (just make sure you're careful if you ever ship them via USPS, it's more reasonable to just buy a new set).
