While the chisel is fine, the leather cover is missing. I have made multiple attempts to contact the seller but have heard nothing. Four attempts were made.

I bought this knowing that it is not a timber framing slick. It weighs just under 4 lbs and is really for faring hardwood shiplaps or log construction. You will likely prefer a firmer chisel if you are actually doing timber framing. The few TF builders I know make their own slicks. For general woodworking you will probably want a shorter blade and a total weight less than 2 lbs. This is a very heavy tool and that is deliberate, keep it in mind.

Would give it 5 stars but it came with a few nicks on the edge. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed but it was a bit of a chore to get right. I’m not exactly a professional with sharpening stones! That’s not their fault of course but it would have been nice to get a good edge out of the box.

You would think a product like this would have it's edge protected for shipping , it did come with an edge guard in separate shipping . the edge had a gouge when I opened up the box . disappointing after two weeks of waiting
