Doc Ortho Merino Wool Diabetic Socks, 2 Pairs, Crew

These are described as being wool. They are not. They are cotton and it is immediately apparent when you take the package out of the box because there is a sticker on the plastic that states they are cotton.

Be careful, they may not fit. Every other brand of sock that I have looked at or ordered is sized for an XL to be for a shoe size larger than 13. Not the case with these. A size XL with this sock is listed as up to a 13 and is really for about a 12 maximum shoe size. They do or did not list a size chart when I ordered mine.Other than that they appear to be a well made socks that is everything that they claim.

Description says 40% merino wool - NOWHERE on the package or the socks does it say "wool" - in fact, the "coton" symbol appears on the package alongside the "made in USA" symbol. Where's the wool???

We've had sub-zero weather this past week and I've worn these socks in my boots with 1600 grams of Thinsulate insulation. I'm a cattle rancher, so I'm outside for long stretches. I also wear other similar socks, but those have only 20% merino wool content. These Doc Ortho socks are labeled at 40% merino wool. However, my feet get cold in these socks, as if they were merely cotton. These are about twice to 3-times the thickness of dress socks, as are my other brand. However, my other socks with just HALF as much merino wool manage to keep my feet warm. So.....I'm at a loss to explain. These socks do seem well made and are somewhat comfy, other than the cold weather issue. However, I will stick to my other brand and save these for Summer wear.

Ordered merino wool, packaging said cotton, sent back

I wanted a diabetic wool sock that wouldn't be too tight on my leg and ankle. This mostly work, although it does get tight on my ankle as I am still recovering from a broken ankle. They a good socks, although they could be warmer.

Warm socks, warm heart. My grumpy days are over!
