Forget about even getting these socks over your foot, never the less your calf!! I ordered the XL just to be safe because my experiences ordering online clothing items have leaned me that way, and I was right. I am a size 10 foot with pretty healthy legs & I would have needed these socks to be at LEAST 4 times the size of the XL. The box says XL accommodates women size 13 shoe and up and a 18-20 inch calf. (NOPE!) The material is super awesome though (nice and thick to achieve the needed compression) however even with the extra large you'll need to have sticks for legs! I give this one a thumbs down. : (

I have been ordering these socks on off for a couple years now. Why? Because they are great...until they are not. The life span of them used to be 6-12 months, now I am lucky if I get 3 months out of them. I do wachine wash, but in cold water and I hang dry. I actually was hand washing them for quite awhile, but had same result as with machine washing on cold. And the decline isn’t gradual, it’s literally like once you hit a certain number of washes, they immediately feel rough, squeeze your toes (whereas before they were roomy in toe box), and shrink in length (no longer reach your knee, but when first got them they went OVER my knee), and yes, they squeeze off circulation at the band at the top, so I go home from work looking like I had rubber bands around my legs just below my knees. And being that I am scrubbed in to surgical field for 10 hours a day, I can’t adjust them so the pain stops. I am at a loss know as to what socks to even try.

Never needed compression socks until a year ago and then it was a nightmare getting what I needed. I accidently discovered SB Sox and I've never looked back!I'm still wearing socks that are more than a year old, and they still have the same strong compression and fit as they had originally! They have held up better than I ever hoped and they feel awesome.I cannot imagine a better product.They are everything they claim to be and more.
