Didn't even have to install drivers for Windows 7 or Windows 10!
I've tried a bunch of internal capture cards over the years, but I've never used USB ones before. I needed something for my laptop, though, so I can live stream and Skype when I'm travelling away from home with something better quality than the built-in webcam. I've been toying with the idea of one of these for a while, so when the discount came on Prime Day I decided to go for it. It arrived yesterday, and in my quick tests it works great. Plugged it into my Windows 7 desktop, and it didn't require any drivers be installed, it just worked. Sort of. It does work, but it's quite laggy on Windows 7 (even with USB 3) - although Elgato doesn't claim it works with Windows 7, so this was better than I'd hoped for. Plugging it into my Windows 10 ASUS ZenBook Pro, though, also no need to download any drivers or software, just plugged it in, hooked up my DSLR, but this time it worked really well. Super smooth video and captures just fine in Skype and OBS. Glad I finally took the plunge.

Easy and quick to have it ready
It's such a good piece of hardware. Easy to install, no drivers needed and you can have your image setup right away. I use it to turn my gopro hero 5 black into a webcam, which is very nice to use (1080p 60fps) In case you need to modify some settings like contrast, saturation, hue and brightness, you can use the 4k capture utility or do the same on your preferred application (I use OBS Studio and I have more control of the settings for the webcam. As I don't have a pci express slot (I have an itx board with just one slot that I have my graphics card installed), this USB stick is very convenient. A little bit expensive in my opinion, but I haven't found anything similar in terms of quality

Elgato: Cam Link 4K
The 'Cam Link 4K' by Elgato is a brilliantly simple solution for those who want to connect their camera directly to a PC/Laptop which effectively turns it into a 'high-quality webcam'. There are cheaper alternatives to Elgato's own Cam Link, some of which go for £20 but you are typically restricted to 1080p with these cheaper devices and may not have as much as a straight-forward experience. There are many reasonable to why someone would benefit from using this product, such as: • Web conferencing: Be it for work or a group chat with friends on platforms such as Discord. • Recording/Vlogging: Using the Elgato '4K Capture Utility' software enables you to record directly onto your PC. • Streaming: Interact more with your viewers by showing yourself whilst broadcasting. Included in the box, you will find: • Cam Link 4K USB stick. • USB 3.0 extension cable. • Elgato sticker. • Safety instruction manual. Additional purchases: • A HDMI cable that is compatible with the camera you are planning on using (For example: Sony A7III has a Micro-HDMI port, so I needed to purchase a HDMI to Micro-HDMI cable). • USB 3.0 extension cable: The one included is quite short, so if you want more reach, you will need to purchase one that suits your needs. It's very important your computer meets the requirements including having the USB 3.0 ports, otherwise you may be met with disappointment when trying to set-up. The set-up for me was extremely simple as my PC (Windows 10) instantly recognised it and installed the drivers required. I installed the '4K Capture Utility' which is available directly on the Elgato website, this allows you to check signal, monitor your microphone, adjust output settings, record video and take screenshots. When you first connect your camera, you may notice all the information that you see on your camera monitor is also being displayed which most should have within the settings to turn this off, for example: • Sony A7III: 'Menu' - 'Setup 3' - 'HDMI Settings' - 'HDMI Info. Display' - 'Off'. The resolution output will depend on what you have selected in-camera and of course the overall quality will depend on your camera/lens setup. I did find in my experience that the signal will freeze when I was running the 4K Capture Utility software at the same time as Discord, I'm not sure why that was but to resolve that issue I just closed everything down and re-loaded the software I wanted to use at that time and the signal was perfectly fine. For me this is not an issue as I don't need to use multiple software at the same time, but may indicate a potential flaw in the product/software (could even be related to my PC, hard to tell). Overall, I am pleased with the results as I am able to use the video & audio straight from my camera to interact with my friends on Discord.

Workds great and well worth the price
Well worth the money spent. I had already wasted money on buying two other cheaper brands. Couldn't get a good quality video out of them until I purchased this Elgato and I have no regrets. Quality really does come with the price and this product is top quality. I've already transferred two VHS tapes to 1080p 60fps digital video. You download the software from their website and it's very easy to use.

M50 camera to OBS.
Worked perfectly. Once I disabled my M50 camera auto shut off. The cam link to worked perfectly. Before I did that it kept on cutting off after a minute or two.

Cam Link 4K
These are well made and very useful but you need to watch what you are getting. The latest series is GAM9903 and this does 4K@60fps the problem you will find is there is a lot of conflicting data even printed on the back of the Cam Link with both GAM9903 but the USB plug and on the other end by the HDMI GAM9901. The reason that I needed one is that I have a camera for a microscope which has a 4K output with both HDMI and USB C. The HDMI is taken into the Cam Link the switched over to USB A and both the USB cables are plugged into my PC and then back to the monitor through software. Elgato have good after sales service if a little on the slow side so watch out what you are buying as there is a lot of the older but new Cam Links out there.

İçerisinden USB A dişiden USB C kablosu çıkıyor.

Plug-and-play Elgato works perfectly with my camera
Setting this up with my Sony ZV-E10 was super quick and easy—it’s basically plug and play. The build feels solid and well-made, which is what I expect from Elgato products, and the price felt very reasonable for the quality you get. I’m a big fan of Elgato and have my entire streaming and WFH setup built around their products, so it fits perfectly into my workflow. The device works reliably, and the image quality is consistent with what I need for streaming and video calls. Overall, I’d recommend this if you’re looking for a reliable, high-quality, and affordable tool to upgrade your streaming or WFH setup.

A Most Wonderful Device
Been using this with my Nikon D500 with Zoom to conduct online workshops. Upgrading my rig from the Logitech C920, a great leap forward in video quality. For users who are experiencing laggy video, I found out (from the product page) that Cam Link 4K only supports these resolutions: 4K p30, 1080 p60/i60, 720 p60, 576 p50 and 480 p60. And I set the recording resolution to 1080 p60 on my camera, it solved the problem. It turns out that the original frame rate was incompatible (my camera was set at p24).
