I have a white/cream puppy - has this worked for anyone?

No. I wouldnt recommend this product. I didnt work well at all on my dogs. Try baking soda and warm water.

I meant tear stains do not wipe off should I be seeing something on the cotton wool? How does it work?

Vet's Best eye cleansing wipes are far better. Really do fix tear stains if you use them daily

I can’t see any treat staining on the cotton pad when I wipe it? How does it actually work?

If the staining is already there you need to trim around the eyes very carefully with a dog trimming scissors which has blunt ends, get rid of as much staining as possible then use diamond eyes to keep it under control. I have 2 white Maltese, the one has no staining at all but the other is bad, I keep her fur round her eyes as short as possible but I can only keep the staining down I can't get rid of it all together and you're right there's nothing on the pad. I also find with her if I use a water based wet wipe first it removes quite a bit and you will see red on the wet wipe. Bella has staining all around her mouth too but all I can do with her is keep the staining down so its pinky, I've never been able to get rid of it entirely.
