Great first impression. Well made and well packaged
I realize that when I buy items for restoration projects, it can take me months to get around to installing the item, let alone reviewing it.I’m taking a new approach by reviewing first impressions and will update my review with install notes, tips/tricks and more photos.I bought a new tub/shower setup for a 1930’s American Standard bathroom. The faucet/tub/shower set arrived and in fantastic condition. It’s exactly what I needed. Except for one thing: My water line pipes are 10” apart and the new shower valve system can go up to 8” apart. My bad for not checking but lo and behold here comes a solution for such an occasion. After much research and review ratings, I landed on this water line variable adjustment set, in polished chrome no less!It arrived today and when I opened it, I was happy to see that the parts were well packaged and included a spare gasket set. They are made of quality brass that was molded then finished in polished chrome. There are no mold markings on the product and all threads are solid and high quality.I measured the threads and the ones I purchased are 100% 1/2” MPT for water inlet that connects to the water outlet pipes in the wall. For those having issues with the MPT: Know that the polished chrome adds a thin layer to the male fitting. If you cannot get it to thread, I recommend buffing off the chrome finish with a wire wheel or hardset wire brush. Be sure to use a high quality pipe thread PTFE tape or do what I do and line the threads with blue threadlocker then assemble the fittings together. The other end is 3/4” Comp for the connecting valve on the finished side of the wall.I really appreciate that they included water shutoff valves inside each fitting. That’s a nice touch.More to come once installed, however at first blush, these appear to be the product that will be the solution for my setup and yours too.

They work as intended, presumably
I got these to pair with a gotonovo exposed shower unit to install on my old clawfoot tub. There was a defect with the faucet threading for the cold water, so I ended up returning the unit.Things to note: if you have an old clawfoot tub with traditional 3 3/8" center spacing, these will work for you. But, if you have this you likely also have the hot/cold water supply pipes that come out of the floor and connect to the faucet MIP. Typically, the MIP threading for these old tub faucets is 3/4", so you'll need to get face bushings to adapt the 1/2" MIP to be 3/4" in order to connect your supply lines. It's additional connections which ends up in more opportunities for possible leaks, so something to be aware of.Again, I returned the faucet/shower unit and went with something more specific to clawfoot tubs in the end.

Has straight pipe threads, not tapered, not npt so use a coupler if you need to
I bought this to go with the beautiful shower/tub faucet assembly from this same company because I have a tub and was not installing in the wall. It was Recommended in the reviews and description of the faucet plumbing. The description says NTP plumbing. “ The shower arm connections are NPT (National Pipe Thread), which has a slightly tapered thread. Teflon tape is used with the threads to lubricate them and help the threads deform and create a seal. IPS (Iron Pipe Straight) threads require gaskets or o-rings to properly seal.” This quote Is what I found on a plumbing web site. This kit comes with the gaskets and everything else you will need to install it. I also bought extra lock washers/nuts per the instructions from this companies store. If your water supply pipe from the wall is NTP you will need a coupler that is 1/2 female NTP on one side and IPS (aka G”) 1/2 female in the other. If your pipe is IPS then no adapter is needed. I love the quality and look of this extension. It will fit almost any tubs openings, from tiny claw foot holes to wider designer tubs holes. I recommend it. It’s functional, well made, and beautiful.
