First of all, yes, this is an actual UV Blacklight. Keep in mind that it is a sub-$10 one at that. With that in mind, it will do most of the basic work you need from a UV light but due to being such a low-cost light, it certainly does not perform as well as a more expensive one. You get a lot more visible light bleeding through with it.

I bought this to track a leak in my truck with UV dye in the oil. It worked great for that but I've actually had more fun finding out what other things I can see with the UV light too. Hint: dont use it in hotel rooms. You realize just how disgusting they can be...

Although I wouldn't rely on it as a forensic tool, it does a fantastic job of detecting bloodstains, even if it misses some biological substances. What truly amazed me was how it highlighted imperfections around my home! It made stains, fingerprints, and even grease splatters in the kitchen pop out with a neon glow. I could easily identify uneven paint jobs and various flaws that I hadn't noticed before. Don't believe all the hype you read about expensive UV Torches. This inexpensive light is as good as any I've used. It has a very strong output that can quickly cure fairly thick layers of UV resin. While advertised as 395nm, it's actually fairly broad spectrum, and quickly cures every brand of UV resin that I have tried. I use it primarily for fly tying and lure making, where portability is a major asset.

Excelente linterna, tiene mucha potencia, aunque por lo mismo se gasta un poco rápido la batería (utiliza 3 AAA no incluidas). La utilizo para detectar el marcaje de gatos en las paredes y el ocasional accidente cerca del arenero, así puedo mantener más limpia la casa y detectar si hay algún problema territorial con mis michis. También la usé para curar resina, la recomiendo si el trabajo es pequeño, me funcionó muy bien.
